TF_sayres123Can’t believe larford is not in, its one of very few venues that can accommodate a fisho with ease

hydrocarpParticipantmatt2007, how often have u fished @ peatling? i take it u have never done any goof there??
one of my top 3 venues, even tho u can only match fish and no pleasure fishing, i can say ive never had a bad day there. all the lakes r stuffed with carp, its mostly a method feeder, or pellet wag, and pole down the margins, with lots of corn.
holly farm on the other hand im not so keen on, and wouldnt want to draw that venue, u will have no chance to get to the final…. pleatling is the place to draw…..

07/12/2010 at 11:54 pm #124728
TF_matt2007in my opinion peatling is a dump, nothing to do with how good or bad ive done there, its not in the same leauge as a place like barston.

TF_One Out of the FrameIn my experience: The venue that no one wants to draw is the venue TO draw as the people who draw it don’t bother going leaving a ‘tap in’ for those who do!
Travelling this year seams enormous, especially given the rediculous price of fuel at the moment.
Holly farm is an exceptional venue! Lots of fish and methods. I would be happy on there.

TF_One Out of the FrameI should also add that with Barston’s central location, excellent facilities and host, not to mention superb fishing: That should have been a certainty for an event of this calibre.
I’m sure it’s all down to politics…
Are you having a go this year btw Nigel or concentrating on the new venture?

Mongloidonly 1 on a sunday and 6 on wednesday’s ??????????????? looks like they left it very late to book the venues if you ask me.
also i suppose larford couldnt have a situation where more people entered FISHO than entered their own MATCH THIS competition, a tad embarrasing dont you think.

Lol , I could give you half a lake to yourself at Holly farm mark , it still wont compete with peatling.~sick

TF_Nigel.No, packing in for a bit Mark.
I have fished Fish ‘o’ mania since it started as you know Mark, and made the final in 2003, and led for an hour till Matt Hall and Darren Cox had there last minute battle!
Both very good friends since too!
I was with you the twice you came runner up, and you was unlucky not to have qualified your self.Next year i am having a break, i raced bikes for 10 years before matchfishing, and i have just bought a race car, and i am going to have one last go at racing before i get any older!

TF_Nigel.As for sharing venues, i suggested this a couple of years ago, as i didnt think my own lake is quite big enough (even though mine is the ONLY lake where all 130 can get on the same water!)
I suggested sharing with Packington, as 65 on each venue would make a fantastic match, and either venue could win, but 130 on either venue is too much!
And now Packinton have one to them selves! and it was my idea! oh well.Yet Holy and Peatling are now sharing, and this could be done a lot more on venues, woodlands, moorlands, or lakeview and Eye kettlby, Gold Valley and willow, etc.
You could make some fantastic matches. But then i allways think of the quality of the fishing first!

TF_jonoif i was comparing peatling to holly farm then i would have to say that peatling compared to holly farm is a dump of a fishery.
ive only been once , 2 years ago , and fished the boat lake at peatling. there was no permanant pegs or platforms, just eroded grass bank, my club secretary had to peg out with bits of paper etc
car parking wasnt great either.
the fishing was ok though
has the place changed since then?!been to holly farm a lot and that is a well run fishery. always had better weights off gills rather than trotters for some reason?!
just my opinion!!

TF_carpmagicParticipantAs Nigel says Barston on its own isnt big enough for 130 pegs and we all know what happened when the match lake was included. 65 on Barston and 65 on Packington would be brilliant though.
Dont know Peatling pools so cant comment on that one. -
08/12/2010 at 7:23 pm #124810
TF_mosellajase1depends wot pools they use at peatling as there is two new ones that are pegged out prop plough and harrow but other side its not pegged but poss 200lb catchs can be done and i cant see holy farm competing with those lakes ~think ~think

TF_shallowmanno matter what venue you pick , you will have favoured pegs / lakes .
somebody will qualify from each round , you pay your money and take your chance.
if I draw holly farm , i wil still fish to win.

TF_BacseyParticipantI think a few more southern qualifiers are in order as i can only see three and one of them is 4hrs drive.

I can only see them using Lakes A(boat ) + B lake which will take 50 anglers easy at peatling and holly farm would take the rest, imho peatlings where the winner will come from as its solid with fish and someone could do a big weight from alot of different pegs…
Holly farm has a clubhouse and decent facilities (brekkies even got a bit better)and peatling has neither at the minute(not sure if stuart(owner) has plans to rectify this)..Its a way off yet and im sure stuart and that Digger could knock something up ~think
I will be trying for a ticket but praying not to draw Holly farm as Trotters nor Gils lake will ever beat Peatling and thats FACT !!!

I think when he says dump he means the surroundings not the fishing, matts fished the place alot and given me a few Nuggets…

andy85Participanti dont know peatling so cant comment but if ppl catch fish an it will give ppl sport i say good on them, i went moorlands last year an it was just a joke, its a nice venue dont get me wrong but it cant accomendate the fisho 130 anglers an its just terrible fishing, i dont wanna drive 2 hours to catch less than 10lb of 75 per cent of the pegs cant understand why barston aint had a chance when nigel obviuosly wants to have a crack at running it i think that would make a good venue. shame about larford does anyone know why its not been given one this year other than the fact there running the maver match this thing or is this the reason why?
