  How the hell did Colin Montgomerie win “Sports Coach off the Year”
  
  1. He isn’t a coach.
  2. If he was a coach, he could possibly have won “Sports coach of the Week” for his Ryder Cup exploits – but not the year !

  i think it takes more than a week to captain the ryder cup team, i am led to believe that it takes two years for the captains to do what they do…!!

  He wasn’t the captain until months before it took place and didn’t pick his team until a couple of months at least before the event.

  According to the papers in the morning, he was 4/7 on to win so someone must have known how the voting was going.

  Downes / Addy have far more claim to coach of the year or the coach of the England Academy RL Team that recently beat Australia 2-0. even Ian Holloway has a better claim.

  Too right Pikey, Monty did great but he isn’t coach of the year, not someone who worked with his players day in and day out. Not Ian Holloway either he’s a manager as is Carlo Angelotti manager of the double champions (which would normally win it).
  
  My idea of a top coach would be Andy Flower who has transformed English cricket with the help of the South Africans !!

  It’s more an advert for what little sport is left on the Beeb these days than anything meaningful. I would have given it to Amy Williams !

  Me i would of gave it to AVRAM GRANT consistent he had Portsmouth at the foot of the table and relegated,and he’s doing the same with west ham.~clap ~clap

  Thats not exactly right, he was named at least 21 months before the event
