TF_ollieDI have problems with elastic hanging from the pole tip.
I think my problem is that I have used pole lubricants in the past and there is a build up inside the top one’s stopping the elastic from working smoothly.
Is there anything I can soak my top sections in to remove this without damaging the carbon?PS All tops are well cut back.

TF_GavinJust running plenty of warm water down them should shift most build-up of crud, but if it’s very bad a little warm soapy water (normal washing up liquid) rinsed through with clean warm water will do the trick without any harm.

TF_ollieDLump, Gavin G,
Thanks for the replies I have tried flushing them out with warm soapy water and fitting new elastics but the problem persists. I have used lubricants from tackle shops as well as armourall in the past and I think these have left a deposit inside the pole sections. I would like to remove this and use water only to lubricate in future.
Has anyone got ideas of how to remove this deposit? -

TF_Cutnutsmall soft cloth jag, length of string, slim weight attached to other end of string. Drop small weight in from bung end(bung and laccy obviusly out)Cloth jag soaked in liquid detergeant or similar, pull through several times. Be sure the cloth is not too bulky or you risk a split the section. Alternatively use a small bottle brush.
Your Laccy may not be retracting for other reasons, besides gunk. poor pre-tensioning, pole tip opening too small, or not cut back enough to reduce laccy sticking to sides.
During cold weather most elastics get the droop due to the cold reducing the elastics ability to be elastic. I believe the elastics structure in the cold may stretch outwards but it’s ability to pull back is reduced.

TF_paul a wfor cleaning my tip sections I use pipe cleaners, either doubled up or single if the tip is fine, use them in conjunction with your elastic threader.

This is what i do get a rod tube and silicone a lid on, fill up with hot water and a large dose of washing up liquid ,then put your topkits in over night and flush them through with hose pipe, works for me

TF_craigoTry running a very hot bath of water and soak your pole sections before flushing/rinsing through sections with the shower.
This should get rid of any old build up

TF_Lee WoodLots of good advice here with regards to cleaning, but are you SURE the pole tip is cut back enough for the size elastic you are using?

Lee I have removed the no1 section of my pole and fitted a bush to the no2 for large (hollow) elastics. The problem I am having is with single no3 and no4 elastics through a top 2 with the no1 section cut well back.
Lads some great advise thanks to everyone I will try soaking the sections and then pulling the pipe cleaners through. If this dosent work I will cut more from the no1 sections.
Thanks again.
