I find it hard to understand how we spend £0000s on over priced poles & seatboxes, yet £0.50p a week causes such a fuss.

Anyhow, I’m assuming as it’s now being advertised on here it hasn’t sold out?

Do you buy a rod licence?

Do you buy multiple keep nets for venues which limit Xlbs per net?

People don’t want to be forced to join an organisation that they feel isn’t even up to representing our sport.

The whole things a farce, they won’t gain many members through this and i bet it only increased by a few hundred through Fish o mania.

Very simple John. I read people constantly complaining about being forced to do something, they are not BTW, they have a choice but I never see the same people complain about TRULY being forced to buy a rod licence, having to follow strict fishery guidelines etc etc and often the funding these anglers provide does not appear to benefit angling as much as it should. Despite all this we never see such complains. Odd IMO

Perhaps The AT is just a convenient hobby horse for peoples angst and whining and people need to exercise perspective because in the world we live in the AT is so trivial it beggars belief.

People like moaning and bitching I guess.

I’ve no idea if it’s sold out or not, I put the post up purely for info.

Pointing out that if you want to enter you have to be in th AT as well, was purely so people understood the entry conditions, and to point out that you have no guarantee of getting a ticket, and no clear indication that you get a refund if you want one for the AT and or ticket.

I have no axe to grind with the AT for or against.

Yes it is a subs booster on the face of it, but I doubt as others have commented that it will really swell the membership.

The whole licensing debate and Trust needed or not and where the money truly gets swallowed up is for yet another endless diatribe on another post.

Look at all the moaners, you are very right James, thousands of pounds on poles, rods and bait each year. All to moan that £25 is too much for AT.

Didn’t the 2010 BW Stillwater Championship get cancelled because BW did not have the resources or staff to administer the event?

If so and the AT are stepping in to take this on and are using their resources, I cannot see why anyone can object to having to be a member to fish.

As a side note, AT membership means you can get membership of BW’s Waterway Wanderer’s scheme which gives access to miles of canal fishing for £10 a year, a saving of 50%.

Club’s can also join this scheme and book matches. This also entitles the registered club to a certain number of free matches (a £10 booking fee is required but no peg fees) on any fishery within the Waterway Wanderers Scheme.

The 2010 BW Champs was taken on by Ian off this site, and Geaoff Ringer I beleive, it went ahead and sold out 4 out of 5 qualifiers within days from memory. It couldn’t have been organised any better, and in many way’s it’s a shame BW/Angling Trust has now taken over the running of the event.

Whether people choose to support the Angling Trust or not, for £20 a year/0.49p a week, you get some proper organised matches on some brilliant venues, with good money payouts. I personally think £20 is a small price to pay to be able to fish such matches, hence why I sent off cheques for all matches.
