        REPORT

MOLANDS During the week, Molands showed the best form of the season so far with the mid week Open seeing 20 anglers weighing in over 1200lb of fish and three tons caught. Everything fed well with carp to double figures, F1’s, big skimmers, tench and crucians all featuring in catches. The hot weather saw early spawning at the weekend with the catches affected by this. Top tactics have been method feeder with meat to the island, pole and pellet at 13m starting on the deck and then coming up in the water and short pole with pellet or worm down the near margin. Best pegs are 2 – 4, 8 – 12, 25 – 33, 43 – 48 and 57 – 60.

GEARYS Another pool in good form through the week but by the weekend it was a frenzy of spawning fish and catches were well down by Sunday. Method feeder fished out into the open water with meat, dead reds or banded hard pellet has been working well or pole fished paste down the near margin for carp and big skimmers. The shallow water from pegs 19 round to 28 has been the most consistent area.

LITTLE GEARYS Shallow tactics are beginning to work really well with pellet or caster fished in the top layers producing catches of F1’s to 5lb and skimmers to 2lb. The margins are also starting to produce with paste or chopped worm and caster taking mixed nets to 50lb. Best pegs have been near the top end of the pool with 1 – 7 and 28 – 30 fishing best.

GRATUITIES Very busy this week with pleasure anglers reporting catches to 80lb, mainly of carp and tench in the 2 – 4lb bracket but skimmers and crucians also featuring in catches. The hot pegs are the usual suspects 1, 8, 9, 15 and 16 but fish are being caught along the straights now. A small method or pellet feeder fished to the island with meat or punched bread and pole with pellet fished long have been the top tactic
