Yes you can mate but don’t use normal washing powder or any type of soap. You can get proper stuff to wash it in, its Nik-wax something or other – I forget and cannot remember where I put mine.

If your gunna put it in the machine make sure there are no traces of detergent anywhere, ie in the pull out draw and pipes etc. The detergent will ruin the actual membrane and it will be useless.

hi mate, run a boil wash cycle (highest temparature and time) with the machine empty and no powder or detergent added to clear your washing machine. use nikwax as directed. should be able to get nikwax from millets stores easy enough. ive done this a few times and works well.

For a wash use soap flakes a dreft pack or similar….. a swift tumble in the dryer on a very low heat relocks the water proof tendancies…. for a reproof TX10 with the same wash….

No issues AT ALL using detergent; don’t know where that old wive’s tale came from. Don’t use fabric softener or detergents that contain it though. I’ve used Ariel Non Bio on my Halkon Hunt, it’s 14 years old and still waterproof. Never used Nikwax either, even though Gore recommend a ‘topical water repellency restorative’ (NIKWAX will do it!). If you use that, tumble drying helps. I don’t own a tumble drier, just a clothes line. Never ironed it either. Dry it inside out on the line though because if you don’t the inside won’t dry!

ditto to Keith above, my mrs has always washed my gear the same as all the other clothing in the house and I’ve never had an issue yet.

Keith is right (as usual lol)
                      Normal washing powder works fine.
It is worth spraying with the nikwax water repellent occasionally though to give it that “ducks back” effect.
