FISHING REPORT – WEEK ENDING 22/5/11

Last week there were 130 rods caught 261 fish for an average of 2 per rod.

A lot more difficult this week with a combination of high winds and educated fish and they were harder to catch. Lots of fish moving on all of the pools and were tricky to tempt but small Emergers, Buzzers and Suspended Buzzers are working best for moving fish. Damsels and small Lures zipped across in front of moving fish have also caught a few.

The biggest fish of the week was a 10lb 13oz rainbow caught by John Salisbury of Warwick who is on a bit of a roll at the moment as he also caught the biggest fish last week. This one came to a black and green Lure fished on a floating line whilst fishing from a boat on Cocks Close. Mr C Turner from Sheffield had his first trout which was a 10lb 1oz rainbow caught on a Damsel Nymph from the bank of Cocks Close. Dennis Tidmarsh and Phil Nott of Birmingham shared a boat on the Hall Pool and caught 17 fish to 6lb between them and they came to Cats Whiskers fished on intermediate lines. On the Great Pool, Ray Cramp of Coventry and Malcolm Randle of Bedworth shared a boat and caught 19 fish to 4½lb on a combination of Diawl Bachs and black Lures.

The best areas on Cocks Close have been the old boat jetty corner and the high bank but fish are moving on all areas. The Great Pool has coloured a little and is a lot harder than previous weeks but the dam wall area is best. On the Hall Pool, the Cattle Drink and dam end is fishing well.
