Fished it twice in the festival last week & despite the weather being very pants, it fished really well, with 150lb+ winning weights on both days & absolutely loads of back-up tons. On monday I had a ton & was 5th in a 10 man section!

Method feeder with groundbait or micro’s & a hair rigged pellet caught for some, meat on the tip scored well for some & meat on the pole to reeds (if you can reach them) or in open water good (sometimes shallow best).

If you have a good margin (e.g. able to fish in front of an empty peg), try feeding it with groundbait, pellets, meat or similar (or all of the above) & you might have a stonking last hour with 5lb+ fish often obliging.

Shallow with maggot worked well for me for the brief periods when the wind permitted, but its a risk since you’ll need 5 pints or more to feed the silvers off.

Winning weights came from the usually unfancied low numbers side on both monday & friday, owing to the strong westerley winds.

cheers for that hatman , regarding the method , ime fairly new to to it , when fishing to the islands on bonzai , do you cast tight up to begin with or do you cast about a metre away and follow them to the island if they back off cheers andy
