Having issues catching F1’s shallow. I seem to get a dozen bites before I connect with one fish? Fishing shallow for F1’s is fairly new to me so any advize is appriciated.

That sometimes can’t be avoided! Try going shallower, bigger or smaller hook, if using pellet, use a band on a hair, a pellet’s distance from hook and use the same size as you’re feeding. Keep slapping the rig in and keep line tight as you get more and better bites on the drop. Also try feeding less.

Cheers Nathan. Its amazing even fishing 12 inches deep how an F1 can snatch at your hook bait, pulling float under and let go before your lift has connected with the fish.

the only thing i would say is that i like to have the pellet just touching the hook in a band i seem to hit more bites this way.

dont be afraid to go down to a size 20 b911 in my case if bites are hard to hit sometimes this helps

              hope this helps

I’ve found with the band too close to the hook, you pull out of more fish. You not had that problem? Probably depends how big the F1s are, most places I go they average 1lb 8oz.

                  hi nathan

no not really i found having the pellet to far away i felt a slight resistance then nothing tried shallowing right up different feeding patterns ect

i think f1s are so fast just having the hook closer makes more sense IMO.

Try shallowing up until your not getting any indications or bites. You want your hook bait above the feeding fish. Then change your feeding pattern so that you increase the competition for your hook pellet. Feed and wait 15 seconds, then feed and wait 15 seconds, then feed again but dont feed again for 30-40 seconds. Feeding like this results in the F1s rising higher in the water pre empting the next time you feed. Your pellet being the only pellet in the water when you dont feed results in your pellet being nailed confidently with no issues with line bites from flashing or fussy fish!

Also try expanders if silvers are not part of the problem. Banding a hard pellet often works too.
