Just wondered what pattern would be best for a little lake near me. The lake is about 3ft deep and never really as any tow on it , I am mainly targeting skimmers , and fishing with 3.5’mm expanders, just wondered what is your preference , cheers.

a good rule of thumb – 0.1 gram per foot of water – take your choice…

Do you think you will get a lot of lift bites?

                  Have a look at this

                  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0nffS0rX6Y

Notice how the float has an elongated bristle and how, half way through, he shots it to half way up the bristle. He then gets the best of both worlds with lift bites and goezunderz.

Good choice . I use the Garbolino Dc11’s and 18’s which I think are the same as what Slider has said.

These in 0.3g are perfect for the conditions you describe and what I use, the long thin cane tip is easy to dot down and will show every indication.

No need for a big round Chimp like body when there is not a lot of tow although these will cope with it too!

I like Garbolino DC4s, but will also use Chimps if I want a thicker tip.
Shotted like in the video, but I tend to use a slightly smaller float (0.6g) and a couple of No10s by the hook.

they use heavy floats for stability and positive bites. If there are a lot of fish in the swim feeding confidntly then you dont want to be faffing about with light floats and hookbaits all over the place, you want the bait on the deck.
If you not fishing for big weights or a steadier pace then sure chianti would be ideal.
