Still a lot of colour in the river, 10″ of clarity that got thicker as the tide rose and another big tide today. The other end of the match length fished today, on Thursday it was peg 23 that showed and today it was the far end of the match length peg 144 where Chris Vanderfleet found the bream. It was a much closer match today than it was on Thursday though. 80 people fished.

1st Chris Vanderfleet, Maver Image VDE, on peg 144 with 38lb 4oz, bream, skimmers and roach on the feeder
2nd Andy Mead, Maver Image VDE, on peg 141 with 30lb 8oz also bream, skimmers and roach on the feeder
3rd Andy Moss, Diawa Angling Direct, with on peg 22 with 26lb 10oz bream, skimmers and roach on the feeder
4th Mark Pollard, Fox Match Dynamite Baits, on peg 51 with 24lb 3oz, roach on the pole
5th James Parnell, Lewis’ Anglers World, on peg 97 with 21lb 2oz

        Sections
        22 to 30 Paul Bunnywell 19 – 6
        45 to 51 Tim Nash 15 – 13
        52 to 58 Ian Cochrane 15 – 3
        61 to 68 Will Freeman 15 – 6
        69 to 78 Bob Cheeseman 11 – 4
        86 to 92 Gary Miller 12 – 4
        93 to 99 Jeanette Haliday 19 – 7
        103 to 110 Bob Bradford 16 – 9
        124 to 128 Chris Cooper 18 – 15
        139 to 144 Mark Haverson 17 – 15

The weights do not seem to be so good so far this year as they were last year

Still looks like a good match though Richard. Nice to see the V machine doing the bizz!!

Think everything is a bit behind this year. Local rivers seem slow so far as well.

Let’s hope that when the weather picks up the fishing will as well Dave!

Well I recieved a very warm welcome on my return to the river, so many faces from the past and even one or two new ones, I took a gamble on drawing a decent feeder peg and only took my two ABU Suveron feeder rods, of course ( being a bream lucky angler) I did draw a decent feeder peg 103 on sluice bend, and after about ten minutes of fishing it felt like I had never been away, although sport was very slow I managed to scape together a couple of decent Bream and a handful of Skimmers for a section win and £45, at the payout Keith ( the organiser) made a nice little speech and as I collected my envelope someone shouted “The axeman is back!” I think it may have been Polly, thankfully he was wrong, “The victim of the axeman” does not have the same ring about it though does it? anyway, the Yare was tough but fair yesterday and the reason it did not produce bumber weights was due to a very high flood tide and the strong wind slowing the flow up, the bream do not like those conditions, it needs to “pull” properly and keep it’s colour, then we will see some monster weights ………….mark my words. 🙂 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_wkw6kHUHOQ

Sounds like a good match though, wish the Yare was a little closer.

i also wish the yare was a bit closer.

the tidal is fishing its rocks off at the minute. i have had over 90lb in the 1st 2 matches and have only managed to win both of my sections (by defalt i might add). not sure how much longer it will last as we have never seen so many skimmers in this river before!

Is that the tidal Trent you are talking about Alibongo? Sounds as if you have been having some great sport.

As most matches go, you are right, it was a really good one with some big names fishing as well. It is just that after 3 or 4 years of absolutely brilliant fishing, it was only good on Saturday not brilliant as we are used to 🙂
