river severn and avon

  Had a nightmare match at Ribbesford last weekend, very little fish, even the bleak weren’t showing…Bites were very hard to come by, very weird even for this early in the season….Just to confound matters, a week Sunday i have another match on the river but this time on the Avon, by Stratford race course…Anyone know how the Avon is fishing…..Dont all laugh, cannot wait to fish the commericals matches..

  One of the Severn matches wasn’t bad – over 50lb won it and over 25lb for the top six. Chub I think at Linley on wag and mag did the business.
  The Warks Avon was pretty grim, with just over 5lb getting you in the top three of a 75 peg match.

  Avon was pretty dire this weekend for most, with fish in pockets (21lb of chub on the Isbourne at Evesham, 26lb of chub + barbel at Bidford), roach haven’t started feeding yet – typical early Avon fishing.
  Barford below this weekend – expect to see good weights there throughout.

  Stannells & Seven Meadows (behind the racecourse) should be OK …… plenty of small fish usually, but no real fliers until the autumn. They’re not big weight venues from my knowledge …. 7lb was always a par score
