TF_One Out of the FrameThanks ever such a lot for the referral Paddy and sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you to thank you (I was moving house at the time!).
I’ll do more than buy you a pint if I check back through our records and find out if we supplied a van as HCL give £50 to anyone who gives us a quality introduction who goes on to order a car or van.
I can remember we quoted on a VW Caddy to someone on here, at the time but I’m fairly sure they didn’t go on to order as they were no longer ‘in market.’
If you are recommending us to anyone text me your name and the customer’s to 07875 815974 or email: [email protected] and that way I, personally, will oversee the order and make sure the £50 finds it’s rightful owner.
Thanks again!
Mark

TF_One Out of the FrameI worked as a Staff Nurse at St Margaret’s Hospital in Great Barr but lived in Ida Road and the flats off Bridgeman Street and drank in the Social Club at the Manor Hospital as I was going out with and later married a nurse from there 🙂 .
I’m impressed with your memory though.

TF_PaddyIt only stuck in my mind because i used to fish the canal there and when i got older the nurses social club was happy hunting ground 😉 Until i met my now wife!
She was a Peadiatric Sister in the Manor – you tend not to forget these things!
Glad i got the right bloke!
All the best, Pad. -

TF_One Out of the FrameDoes the canal by the Wharfe Hammer still fish?
I used to fish the evening matches there and it was all small tench although I used to frame in most matches fishing for the roach with a 6mtr Dam Telesnatcher!
I always used to have a carp rod set up and took dog biscuits on every match to snare a carp but never got the opportunity although mugged a few outside of matches.

TF_PaddyI hear on the grapevine that the Wharf itself which is the rear of the Wharf pub, right in the centre of walsall fishes well for Bream.
It’s all a bit urban for me these days to be honest, i would much rather be stuck in Ironbridge Gorge looking for Chubb and Whiskers.
I try not to go back to Walsall, but occasionally i have to and the changes that have and still taking place in the areas that you know and mention have changed dramatically.
I think if i was going to fish any where around there it would be on the pole and heading for either the wide section at the lowest point as it comes out of Birchills locks (start of the Pleck Road as it comes off the Wolverhampton Road, or down into Pleck itself, as it runs adjacent to the Darlaston Road of i think may be HanKat water.
There are plenty of scroats in them neck of the woods these days, so you may need your tin hat.
Perhaps we should go there and fish, discuss the nurses bar and reminisce! -

TF_One Out of the FramePaddy,
I’d be well up for that when the weather improves!
I was just wracking my brains and the pub was the Forge Hammer not Wharfe Hammer (It may just be the Forge but I think that is the one on the corner by the lights instead).
That lock you mentioned, I’ve had a perch nudging two pound off the bottom of that and a fair few bream out of the basin but only in the Winter though. I’ve never had a skimmer even out of the canal between there and the Forge Hammer although someone once had a terrapin out of there (knarly bad tempered thing and very aggressive – that’s the terrapin rather than the angler! lol).
I once had 47 tench in just over an hour in a short session before the club opened then found out I’d been fishing two pegs away from a dead body!
Those were the days but motorbikes rather than scrotes were the bain of my life riding about with no exhausts Grrrr Just what you need after a night shift and trying to sleep before your next one! 😡
You Mrs may know some people that I do: Simon Langford (went out with my g/f’s flatmate), Andy and Tracy Hobster (same group as g/f and absolutely fab chap) or Mark Dawes?

TF_PaddyWhat a small world. Jane knows all the people you have mentioned and says Mark was a great A&E nurse, whilst Simon was the Gaffa of the medical side of the Paediatric wards.
Did you know Shaun Mountford? RIP.
Do you still speak to Simon? and did you Hilda Higgs and Jan Cooper?
What is your surname? is it Dabbs?
Jane was in the nursing digs at the same time you mention, you should have a word with her!
That dead body swim must of been a bit of a shocker! and on the same lines, i also know a bloke who hooked a “dead un” at Black Rock, Bewdley on the Severn, i dont what i’d do if that happened to me!
I would fish that stretch with you again when the weather gets better, whilst the Forge hammer has long since closed down. -

TF_One Out of the FrameMark Dabbs was a nasally sounding irritating tosspot. No idea what he was like as a nurse or a human as first impressions can be devastating! lol
Noooooo! I was the Lefty Trade Unionist shaking things up back there and going out with Liz Millner (who later became a Midwife) then after we split up went out with Lindsey Dunford (who I married.. er and divorced…).
My Surname is Barnes btw. 😀
