TF_BoddeParticipantAs the topic says I’m looking for a new light 13-14ft waggler rod. It’s going to be used for roach, skimmers and bream. But it has to be able to chuck decent wagglers, yet remain soft enough to avoid hookpulls even when using tiny hooks. I have no budget and I would really appreciate some suggestions from you.

TF_inky fingerI love my waggler roach fishing and have used a few rods mostly on big still waters. The ultra light line favourites at 12ftish are the mark pollard fox signature 11 10ins,.(v rare) or the drennan crystalite (ebay)12ft both good up to 3AAA and down to 0.6.For standard wagglers up to 8 grms the original 13ft shimano ultegra response super soft tip but expensive on ebay if one comes up.A brilliant rod for sensible money and current is the new drennan finnesse im9 13ft. A two piece (trick handle) brilliant actioned rod that will easliy go down to 0.8. I’ve used mine to cast big 8grm wagglers 25/30 yards and little 2AAA jobs one or two rod lenghts out and still it will absorb an odd heavy handed strike without braking light hooklenghts when hooking both roach and bream . It weighs next to nothing with a very thin blank and quality rings. A future classic I don’t blame you for asking for opinions as trying to find a truly light actioned waggler rod these days is a nightmare. Most people have to go back to the late 80’s early 90’s to find something that is suitable when a top of the range rod was designed to fish 12oz bottoms and up to 4lb main lines…… poxy carp !

top stuff!
i was after a 12 footer last year…”we’ve got this 11ft pellet waggler thing” was all i got back.
i’ve got a spro distributed Tamas Walter 13ft World Champion rod, rarer than hen’s teeth but lovely for proper fishing.

TF_nick_the_2ndDrennan no longer make the DRX Ultralight but they are in my opinion one of the best silverfish rods ever made, the action is spot on.
The new model is called the Matchpro Ultralight which I am sure is just as good 😀

TF_squattIf you want a Drennan you should be looking at the new Classic or Finesse. Both 13ft one joint/spigot but clever handle design making it 2 piece plus half the handle. Excellent balance and feel/action. The Fox FX range is very good so is the Shimano Aerocast. Daiwa imo are going downhill but the price is going up. :p
