        Hi
Spent a good few hours walking around Earlswood Lakes on Sunday.
I’ve never seen the lakes so low, in places the waters edge on Engine Pool is 30 yards from the permanent pegs. The Yachting pool is just the same. Really needs a few weeks rain. Not many fishing and didnt see any fish rolling or topping. What I did find useful is that I could walk the beach in front of every peg and note down features, variations in bottom contours, snags etc etc. I even noticed sizeable sandbank I didnt know was there before! Roll on autumn!
If anyone has a match coming up be prepared for extremely low water levels!

The water is low due to maintenance work on the dam wall. BW have drained both the Yachter and Engine lakes to reveal the base of the dam wall. The lakes are also used to top up the canals, so this does also contribute towards such low levels. It is quite a sight seeing it so low.

I live right by the lakes and walk round their weekly. Just lately it’s as though there is no fish in there – with the water so low you’d expect to see fish topping/swirling all over, but the place is dead, not a fish to be seen. This may explain why it’s fishing so moody. As far as I am aware, all matches are running as usual.

When they dropped the levels by about 12 to 15 foot at Alton Water Reservoir just outside Ipswich to repair the dam wall it fished better than it had ever fished – except of course those areas where there wasn’t any water!

Yachter fishing ok bream are moving into the deeper water at the dam wall. There is no count with a bomb on any pegs past 26 on the tins. I have seen it this low several times in the past, just hope no more is drawn off for the canals.

                    Any ideas?

216lb won the match last Saturday on the counsel house side – all caught on the straight lead. From memory, that was 22 carp. It’s still fishing moody, and the water level is still dropping.

                      Hope this helps.

Pleasure fished it yesterday with my old fella
I had 35 Carp to 18lb and he had 24 Carp to 16lb.
We fished pegs 70 and 71 most fish came to Bomb and Pellet with a few on the Slpash Waggler. 😀
