I am about to buy a Garbo Gmax1000 but seem to be getting lots of comments about brittle sections and people telling me about no5+6’s breaking under normal use ?? I have been to Fosters and Bobco to have a waggle and really like the feel but am worried about the feedback I am getting.
I have also been offered a new Milo Superba XT at a very good price but haven’t ever tried one so was wondering if anyone uses one and what they thought of it. I have been told they are very similar to the Pro X but unsure how true this is.
Any help or info on the above will be gratefully recieved.

I looked at both of these before changing last october.

Performance wise its the garbo easily, its stiffer and longer; the milo is a good pole and good vfm but id look at the browning z9 over it.

A friend of mine got a gmax800, so far he’s had two replacement 14m sections under warranty as they broke whilst twirling rigs, he’s not hard on his gear. Its a lovely pole for £1300 but the sections are paper thin and “under a lot of tension” if you know what I mean and therefore there isnt much flex to allow for any abuse at all.

I seriously contemplated the gmax1000 but heard of too many breakages and went for a colmic x5000 instead which has being superb, its very slim, responsive and strong with a great finish through your hands. it is however more expensive than your other options when u factor spares in, i managed to get a whole spare pole and kits at the right money.

          Good luck with your choice.

Cheers for that Rhino, I have just sold my Z9 after 18 months good service. I have seen the x5000 but as you say they are a bit too pricey as I only really have £2250 to spend.

Go for the GMAX 1000, quality bit of kit.

Think me and Craig came out of the same mould, we can’t keep a pole longer than a month haha.

I had the Z9 for 18 months or more – I might even get another yet. 😮 😮

No worris Craig – two more to consider, for strength and lightness the Tricast Trilogy is v good, but perhaps not as stiff as some and a little too short; Wickersely angling in Rotherham are doing a great deal on the Shimano Firebood @ £2100 with I think 9 kits and spares are cheap; this pole is very well regarded, try and take a look
