First of all id like to congratulate Nathan on reaching the final this year, but as we all know the draw didnt favour him . As he posts on here, i wonder what his views were on the weekend. Good luck for the rest of the season Nathan, and hope to see you in the final next year. Ian.

Thanks, obviously I had a bad day’s fishing, as did the people near me and thought there was little I could do to catch! Yes, I could have fished for small fish but don’t think it would have been enough to win and expected the winning weight to be higher! I stuck to my plan and if the carp turned up, I could have won it in the last half hour! I guess the rain the night before put them off.

I did win £580 on Shane Atkin off the bookies!

Wasn’t there Sunday but I know a lot more fish were caught but I think that was mainly down to there been hardly any crowd on the bank! Plus they had more time to get used to the weather change.

I think the fisho match was poor , and I think the weigh should be every hour to give them a chance to catch a few, do you think the venue for the final should change?

Would need to be every 3 hours for me! 🙁

i think they should change the venue every year personally,, !!
fisho’s a fantastic day out and everyone should have the chance to witness it !!!
been to a few at hayfield and a couple at cudmore and imho hayfield was a far better venue, just needed pegging down 4 banks rather than 3 with corner peg blockers !!!
doesnt matter how you peg cudmore, there are always gunna be area’s rammed with fish and others more or less empty !!!!!
rotate the final,, give everyone a chance to have a day out !!!! for instance, no one from cornwall’s gunna travel to doncaster or stoke are they ?

The venues now get fisho for 5 yrs, it is hard to pick a venue that as a good view for spectators, cudmore & hayfield are perfect because they have raised banks around the lakes for spectators to watch from, i think changing the venue every year would be a nightmare for the organisers.
Arena lake is full of fish & i really think the weather the day before & on the morning took its toll on the fishing, Sundays match came across brilliant on the tv.
Just 2 different styles of fishing, the lads on the sat fed to win because they had all bagged up practising, the lads on the international match had the advantage of seeing how the fishing had gone down hill on the sat & approached it differently.
Where would you move it to?
Iv watched all fisho’s at cudmore & to be honest it gets boring after a while, its normally a barble match, the carp seem to switch off because of all the spectators on the bank!!
It surprises me how much time anglers some anglers spend on the pole, the fish must surely move towards the far bank where there is less disturbance, i think if they stayed on the feeder longer at the start they would build the swim up.
I do also fish this venue a lot & know how it fish’s under normal match conditions.

Don’t forget blockers by the bridge at Hayfield too, Leaky Lloyd. The fishery was changed for several reasons, not just peg 16. It is really difficult finding a venue that can do the job, trust me. There aren’t many that have access for a 50m cherry-picker for a start, as well as two full-sized broadcast/transmission trucks! If every coarse angler from Devon and Cornwall were counted there would still be more in Sheffield, Nottingham, Barnsley or Manchester. There were more spectators at Hayfield because in the early days Robin made sure there were, marketing man supreme. That changed in the later times. Even the local council supported the event in a very big – even financial – way. That stopped too and eventually a situation arose that made the venue untenable for the event.

16 on the island on Moat at Hallcroft, plenty of room on the outer.

Well here we go…..This is the kind of thread that will get the Forum buzzing.Firstly i would like to congratulate all the anglers that qualifed, and of course give a big “Well done” to the winner. They all went to their pegs hoping they had drawn the winning peg,but as we all know from the countless matches we have fished in……if “the fish aint there in quanties you aint going to win it”. These lads are all great anglers, and if anyone of them had drawn Peg 1 then they would have no doubt caught a winning weight.
We have all drawn next to great anglers and beat them, but we know if they had drawn our peg they would have had much more than us out of it.Match fishing is a great sport, and whether you are brilliant or an average angler you go to the bank with hope, and sometimes just sometimes the float goes under or the tip flies round, and for that day you can and will beat the very best.Of course the better anglers win more than most because of their vision, skill and ability…..but we all have our moments.
So to me…it aint the venue on these big occasions, its putting your hand in the bag and taking out the peg that on the day will win it for a good angler. 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

It was the first time I had attended a Fisho final and I must admit I was impressed with the organisation especially the demonstrations on the various pools and will definately be making it an annual visit from now on.

It was a pity the weather played such a part in proceedings however with the amount of rain that fell in the previous 48 hours you were always going to be up against it whichever venue staged it. I did spend most of my time sat behind Nathan & Tony Curd and it was still good to watch despite the fact action was a bit slow.
