Take some wellies! Water well down, was there Saturday, won off peg 40 on method to the island, then fish bomb and pellet in open water and pole up in the water with pellet or caster but need a lot of caster. Margins only really worth a go if you have a spare peg or 2 and groundbait, few maggots, worm on hook has been best or meat and corn should work.

what weight did you get mate?

did you fish the method tight upto the island?

did you try a short line or is it not worth it?

would you say pellet or caster for up in water?

Sorry, I didn’t win! Andy Kinder won with 190lb and he would have been tight to the island. I won my section with 85lb, feeding a gallon of casters but 2 pints of pellets may have been just as good, maybe better!? Margins were 2nd and 3rd from end peg and next to end peg with a spare peg, wouldn’t bother without a spare peg.

what would you reccomend then mate?

start on method and bomb and feed the shallow line and then switch onto that later in the match??

Method if you draw the island pegs, bomb and shallow if not, probably start shallow if conditions ok, if nothing within 10 minutes, go on the bomb and keep feeding the shallow pole line.

                    Hi Nathan,

How far out do you have to fish shallow? can you draw them in close. Also can you fish fairly heavy for the f1s like 0.14 .

                    Thanks

I would fish 14.5 to 16M, waste of time trying to catch closer than 13M in my opinion and would only start that close if the wind was bad and had a spare peg or 2. I use 0.14 which I consider light! 🙂
