Two brilliant anglers make the Shatterford headlines this weekend:
Four-year-old Harry McCrae from Stourbridge achieved a new personal best yesterday – a 23lb Carp on Masters peg 12 after no more than an hour on the lake (pic to follow). He’d previously spent a couple of hours on Erics and also landed several double figured carp, including a 20lb grass. Other anglers who’d been there all weekend and had lesser results were amazed at young Harry’s angling skills. I spoke to Harry and his dad (Paul) shortly after his catch and I saw the blisters on his little hands as a result of his effort and determination to land such a big fish. Needless to say, both were delighted with the results. At the end of what was obviously a very tiring session Harry was still keen to do things right and I’d like to thank him for helping me pick up litter and disgarded line from a nearby peg. Even at such a tender age, he’s obviously the sort of angler that any Fishery would be proud to welcome back! Nice one Harry – you’re a Star!!!
Second star of the show has to be our current record holder, Sean Mills from Kidderminster, who once again landed another giant catfish on Masters. This one came in just after midnight on Peg 11, using cell boilies and weighed an impressive 68.5lb – just short of his previous 70lb record caught on peg 5 (Sean assures us it was a different fish!). Yet again, this shows that it’s not where you fish, but how you fish! Sean also landed 3 grass carp (14lb, 16lb & 20lb) along with a 21lb common during his 36 hour session.
Stuarts Lake has also been productive for both cats and carp this weekend:
Kirsty Clarke from Halesowen landed a 38lb cat on luncheon meat.
Daniel Walton (Willenhall) landed his first Cat (16lb) along with 2 Grass (20lb & 16lb) and a 6lb Koi.
