        Hi Folks,
I am looking for day ticket fisheries with disabled access in any of the above areas.
I can still walk just and some venus state they are disabled friendly but it about half a mile from the car park to the swims.
But at least I am trying to get back to the sort I love.
I have a missus who also fishes and is the pack mule for most of our trips and she is getting fed up with the same old two places we can fish. 😮
Any suggestion would be welcome and even better if they have website to view the venues.
Many Thanks for reading this post

Hi ,Thought I would give you an update on my first fishing trip in over 5 years.
Decided to try the Tench Pond at Hordle Lakes.
D/Loaded the route and map from the RAC and loaded the car and off we went.
Straight down the M27 to Junc 1 and then one straight road to the fishery.
Not a bloody chance!!. They had built a new roundabout and renamed a road so the directions were totally false.
We headed towards Lyndhurst as it was marked on the map and ran into a traffic queue and it took 2 hours to get to Brockenhurst and it said 1 mile to the turning. % miles later no turning.
So we said Sod It we are going home!!
We got up today and when to a friends ponds(MBK) and what a day we had weather was ok and the venue not too busy and we set up in peace and proceded to enjoy 5 hours of great fishing roach ,skimmers and curcian carp and the old tiny perch.
But what a return to fishing !!
Many thanks to MBK for a great day. 🙂 🙂 🙂

smeagal, don’t know where you were coming from but your directions were a load of nonsense from your description.
DONT turn off the M27 at junction one but carry on up the hill on the A 31 to Stoney Cross, turn LEFT for Lyndhurst and continue until you get to the A 35 T-junction. Turn RIGHT and continue for a few miles passing the turn-off for Burley, continuing uphill to the LEFT turn for New Milton. After about a mile there is a junction at the Red Lion Pub.take the LEFT fork and continue through the village (Tiptoe) to the next T-junction . Go Right and then immediately LEFT to continue to the roundabout. Turn Right and continue down to the Fishery (well signposted) about 1/2 mile down on the right.
                Good luck. cormorant

Hi smeagal, if you were going to the Tench Lake at Hordle expecting to catch just tench you’ll be very disappointed as it’s full of mainly carp! There are tench in there but you’ll do well to sort them out. The name Tench Lake is more historical than factual and a real misnomer if ever there was one.

Likewise at Greenridge, there are tench present but they’re massively outnumbered by carp. However, for your requirements the disabled access is very easy with short distances from the car park and all the swims have comfortable platforms to fish from. Loads of fish too (but as I’ve already said mainly carp) so worth a visit if you just want a good days fishing.

Main baits are luncheon meat, sweetcorn and floating baits (but not white bread which is banned, brown is o.k.) at this time of year. The method feeder has also been catching a lot of fish lately, and the nearside margins produce a lot of fish late in the day.

Thanks for the helpful replies gents 🙂
Well I said the directions were wrong and I have given the RAC a right earfull I can tell you.
My mrs TG is not the mildest mannered lady and when she has set her heart on fishing and we can’t find the venue and I am trying to give her the route
Guess who gets it in the neck.
We used to be pond wardens of the best Tench Fishery in Hampshireand that is where we get our love of the slimy green ghost.
Hilsea Eastern Moat had a fabulous head of tench until the club move carp in and the bullied the Tench out and destroyed the water and eventually it turned over with a lethal algal bloom and every fish died.
It is no longer a fishery 😡 😡
Well the boss say’s we will try both and see if we can’t tease one or two out.
                    Thanks once again Gents

Took the wife fishing for part of her birthday presents yesterday at a venue we had never been to. 😮
As stated in an earlier thread on here I was looking for a disabled friendly fishery down south.
We I have found one that I would give ***** stars to.
                      “Dandy’s Ford nr Romsey. 🙂
What a cracking fishery.not very big but 3 fully accessable lakes with great facilites on site. The Tea rooms are clean and the food is excellent and the toliets are spotless.
As for the lakes the access to them is flat and even and well tended. Each swim is a platform(about 2 mtrs ) and no overhanging trees on most lakes.
Not for an avid Carpie I suppose but for a club match or even as we did a family Fish off a fabulous venue and nice people.
What was going to be a couple of hours turned into 7 1/2 hours of great sport.
The biggest fish of the day was over 12lb and there were many smaller ones caught.
A word of warning (after my No 2 section got smashed to splinters ) If you fish the lake nearest to the tea rooms fit a strong tight elastic because as soon as they are hooked they either bury themselves under the lilles or under your platform .
I was going to post some pictures but am unable to do so

                        smeagal,
in Dandy’s Ford you certainly picked one of the best fisheries in Hampshire to fish.
John runs a very good fishery for all types of angler and his wife make cracking meals, snacks and cakes….
next time you go try the canal lake as there are a good number of tench in there. pole or waggler on pegs 1 2 or 3, as i’ve had good days’ fishing on those pegs, with almost a bite-a-chuck for six hours on maggot, caster and sweetcorn.
                        good fishing to you both,
                        cormorant.

Posted this on the Fox Int FB page and ot no response so I thouht I would post it here.

Does no one fish for tinca tinca anymore?
Are we the only ones who remember the early morning mist and the bubbles rising to idicate where they were feeding.
I can recall Pete Springate coming to a water I was Pond Warden at and staying for weeks at a time just to catch a large Tench that live there he did manage to get one of 14lb+ to the bank and as he went to net it it shook the hook and with one flap of its massive tail she was gone.
Does no one remember these stunning green fighters 🙁 🙁 🙁
