Recently I have been preparing hemp & storing it in plastic take away food containers. I leave the hemp in the garden for weeks. When I go to use it, it stinks!!!! I think it works far better as an attractant. I also freeze the hemp, in these containers, & use it all year round.
            Regards Peter.

If you’re not planning to use it all in one go, bag it and freeze it Chris. But don’t let it dry out or it’ll float.

I always made my own hemp but this year i’ve been buying tins because I couldn’t find anywhere selling sacks of raw hemp. The guy in the tackle shop said i’d save more money buying them big £7.99 jars. I bought one and I only got 1 weekend out of it and the rest went off, even in the fridge with the lid screwed on tight. So it was a more expensive option.

Make your own hemp fresh on a Friday evening, or make it in bulk and freeze it into 1pt bags.

I’ve found if you keep any left over hemp in the original plastic jar, fill with enough water to cover the hemp and then seal the top with cling film under the lid. It keeps for weeks in a dark cupboard. The added bonus with this is, the water takes on the smell of hemp and can be used to make up your groundbait. Works for me anyway!
