I fished Upper Benbo in a match last Sunday.
I was on permanent peg 7 which is half way along and weighed 33-13 for 2nd place. The winning weight, third and fourth all came from end pegs.
Hulme’s advice is spot on. Pellet on the far side worked best for me but my peg required at least 14.5m of pole and as was said, it catches the wind there very easily and i was not able to fish the far bank all day. Also caught from the track just up the slope at about 12 metres using worm over chopped worm and caster.
The track is too deep and rather foolishly he’s put lily pads on the far bank midway between the swims. As the fish get bigger they will prove to be a real problem. The guy has the money, he just needs a fishery manager to put him right, as I fear the return he’s likely to get on his investment will be compromised otherwise.
The place is certainly not your normal carp puddle and has been landscaped very well.
