TF_kev825Whats the preferred method of keeping bait on the hair?
I’m currently using Fox dumbell boilie stops…and wondered if there was anything less fiddly and or cheaper and easier. -

TF_NathanWatsonI use a band most of the time, put it round a pellet or pull it through meat or corn. For big meat and long casts I use spaghetti.

Spaghetti – I like it – especially as I was thinking more for feeder/bomb fishing with hard pellets

TF_NathanWatsonI’d just use a band for hard pellets mate.

TF_JohnHWhats the best way of hair rigging two pellets?

TF_NathanWatsonI used to drill 1, pull band through it and round another but latest batch of pellets have been crap so can’t drill em! 😡 . Sometimes tie 2 bands together.

TF_JohnHJust had a week at Stafford Moor and the local bomb lads rubbished the band idea saying they thought the fish could see it. Lots of elaborate ideas are employed there from lasso to drilling pellets and hair rigging with a simple tag end off the hook with a knot in it wedged with spagetti.
These guys have developed these ideas over time and clearly think it makes a difference.
Same on wag, not many were using bands although to be honest once a pellet has been in the water with the band on I couldnt see the band myself. -

TF_GavinI’ve always done okay using bands, albeit on waters perhaps not as heavily fished as Stafford Moor etc. I do doubt the fact the carp are able to see it, due to the colour on most commercials plus the fact that carp can’t actually see what they are eating!

TF_jwbBand on a loop. 🙂
I think we are thinking carp are more intelegent than they obviously are in thinking they can see the band. I think it is for more about how the pellet reacts rather than a visual thing  -

TF_JohnHI know it might seem a bit far fetched but these lads fish SM a lot and think it does make a difference. If you read the Dave Britton article on pellet wag he wrote 5 (?) years ago now he talked about it then. He sometimes had to pull the band through a drilled pellet to fool wary fish whan straight banding was not working.
We have all from time to time changed something that at the time seemed irrelevant and gone on to catch loads, moving a shot, throwing another meter over etc so I do not dismiss these things lightly.
It can however do your head in cos sometimes they plainly are not there or not having it and you seem to be forever convinced its the rig thats the problem. -

TF_baggingmachineParticipantFor fishing hard pellets on wag or bomb I recommmend lasooing…….even a man with sausage fingers like me can master it! Those quik stops are also a great idea……but whatever works for somebody is obviously ok…..the spaghetti idea sounds interesting as well! 😎
