TF_Gary the gudgeonI cannot believe Arsenal fans BOOING Arsene Wenger at Newcastle yesterday, what short memories they have, he has been an OUTSTANDING manager, name me any other team that has completed the phenomenal achievement of being unbeaten in a season at the highest level in English football, playing beautiful flowing football. Still they try to play a game that is a delight to watch at times. Because a few MOODY MERCENARIES have been causing unrest is not a reason to blame the manager, no wonder Wenger is looking despondent.

TF_FBluesThe trouble is Gary the Gudgeon, they see clubs like Chelski and Manchester Abu Dhabi and think they should be doing the same thing – and going skint. I never thought I’d say this on 2 counts, but today in The Mail, my new Sky Sports colleague, Gary Neville, has ‘written’ an excellent article. (The 2 counts were Gary Neville and The Mail as I rarely have agreed with either in the past).
He says that Arsenal well still be around in 100 years time and uses Blackburn as the example of financial profligacy. He could have used Leeds too but that may have been too much, as a ManU lad.
The transfer lunacy started with Essien. He was going to ManU for £10.3m and Chelski just bid £24.4m so it’s a no-brainer for the club and with wages double that ManU could pay, for the player too.
If Nasri goes to Citeh on £180k per week, for over £20m fee, he will not play except in the Mug’s Cup – and for that money why should he bother? They already have 4 players who were/are in the England squad whose careers are on a downward spiral through lack of activity but whose bank accounts have magnified, in Barry, W-Phillips, Milner and Johnson – who I rate as outstanding by the way. Chelski did the same with Parker and Sidwell.

TF_herbieagree with keefy what gary wrote is spot on. if all the arsenal board died tomorrow nothing would change . the club is built on solid rock. united have debts of 700m or the glaziers have but are value,d at 1,5 b. if the citeh toy boy went tommorow ther club would be bancrupt same as chelski and as for our poor scouse neighbour,s they,d be stuck in a crumbling stadium pot-less as usual and thats without any change at all. lol never write off the gooners 😀

TF_DodgeJust fell off my step ladders whilst decorating after reading some of this thread 😮 😀
Arsenal,s current situation is a huge source of amusement up here in the north west ! I actually feel sorry for Wenger , he is one of the best managers in world without doubt. If i were an an Arsenal fan i would be protesting against why the AMERICAN owner ISNT backing him ? Wenger could have bought a top class keeper for peanuts in Shay Given and a top center half again for peanuts in Roger Johnson or Gary Cahill ? The Arsenal Board need to back Wenger quickly before it is too late …….. or maybe it is too late ???
Gary Neville writing for the Mail ? he must be the thickest columnist ever in that papers history 😀

“Gary Neville writing for the Mail ? he must be the thickest columnist ever in that papers history “
You’ve forgotten Gary Lineker then Dodge?
He resigned from the paper on principle when they exposed corruption at FIFA because he reckoned it would sabotage England’s world cup hosting bid.
Strangely, when the BBC’s Panorama programme did exactly the same thing he didn’t resign from Match of the Day (on principle).
Perhaps the BBC were paying him more than the Mail?

TF_FBluesThe trouble is Dodge, in your unsustainable world of Blue Heaven, you can just go and ponce. Maybe it’s why ‘the north-west’ feels amused as I suppose it must be a way of life up there. I honestly don’t know but when I hear the looters moaning because they aren’t ‘given’ anything to do, or ‘given’ anywhere to go, or ‘given’ nice places to live, they just go and take them anyway. That was Salford’s message to the World.
In the south we tend to earn.
(That’s a Marukyu post…likely to produce a few bites…)

TF_FBluesPS. Mr Wenger has the backing of the board and the money to spend but I doubt if he’ll ‘invest’ as wisely as Hughes and Mankini have. How much down on deals are Citeh, with the money they’ve wasted? Adebayor was how much? Spuds will take him – if Sheik pays £100k pw of his wages – having already paid £32m to do Arsenal a favour.

So Arsenal will have millions and millions in the bank finish 7th in the league , win nowt again , no champions league football and Wenger has gone ? Cant see the Arsenal fans swallowing that one somehow ?

TF_FBluesReally? It took Citeh 35 years and they still have fans – not enough to fill a small stadium they don’t own…
-
14/08/2011 at 5:13 pm #146995
TF_Kagger TNBI reckon if you asked most football fans in the country “How would you like your club to be playing in a new 70k seater stadium, playing exciting football, qualifying for the champions league every year, being in with a shout of major honours every year, and doing it all on a financially sustainable basis”, they bite your hand off.
That would include most fair minded Man U, chelski, and Man City fans.
Where will chelski and man city be when their benefactors clear off?
How about Man U being about £750m(and climbing last I heard) in debt?

Weak comeback by your standards keith . Oh and i dont live in Salford …… try a leafy suberb of south manchester . Lets hope Arsenal dont lose to Udinese and fall by the wayside , be a real shame for there fans who pay good money to watch them only to be let down by a lack of investment, money is everything in the premiership , dalgliesh woudnt have made a comeback at liverpool if he hadnt been promised £80 / 90 million to spend on new players , he has paid way over the top for most of them just like City have had to do to get where there are right now but that is how things are in the prem and to an extentent to gain champions league football ….. just look how much Barca and Madrid have spent to compete with Chelski, Liverpool and Man Utd , Arsenal havent spent are now seemingly begining to slip away. Money is everything to stay in the top 4 or 5 whether it is players wages or transfer fee,s us fans whether we like it or not have to accept it if we want our club to be successful. It is grotesque in the current economic climate that this is the situatution but the money is there and the top clubs have backers with plenty of it whether its American borrowed money (prob cause of economic downturn) or super rich middle east or Russian owners !
Arsenal FC is a fantastic and hugely admired football club FBlues and Mick The Bookie but sadly it looks like it is only going one way …… let us all hope that isnt the case !

TF_herbieHow about Man U being about £750m(and climbing last I heard) in debt?
whats £750 million when the clubs worth twice that amount  if the banks called in there money tomorrow the yanks would have twice as much as they paid. plus with a turnover of over 100 million and rising who cares, fergie is like wegner why buy trash at inflated prices when they both have the balls to invest in youth. average age of uniteds team last sunday 22 😮 that is frightening and must worry all those wanabee,s knowing that this united side has 10 years before they need to buy . citeh on the other hand are paying 100 million in wages for players to play with the kids lol :p :p :p . they remind me of when i was a kid. a local lad found five pounds, off to the sweetshop he went and ran around the shop like a banshee with his arse on fire. he bought everything he could see only later to find he didnt like half of what he bought so we poor kids got them for nowt. bit like citehs midfield init 😉 😉 😉 😉 😉 😀

TF_MICK THE BOOKIEARSENALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL. :p :p :p :p ..I still love my “Babies” and always will. All true Arsenal fans have known our shortcomings for sometime.Like Wenger we knew what was needed, but unfortunately A.W is not just a manager with great vision who gets his players playing the best football in the world(along with Barca),but he is also a very shrewd and stubborn man.We owe him so much with his quality buys and his ability to sell off players who are ready to fail.He has made Arsenal a World class team who are known all over the planet. Why do you think so many players want to play under him?…..He is,along with Fergie,in the top 10 of all time great Managers.
I for one know he is the best we can possibly have…But i am afraid he just wont sell Arsenal short just to please so called plastic “Gooners”.He will do it his way although at the moment it could see us drop out of the top 6. 🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁 -

TF_FBluesOh Dodge. The old ‘sing when you’re winning’ song could have been written for you and the other Citeh fans. One thing Arsenal fans have never done is gloated, despite plenty of opportunities. Citeh are probably the least respected club in World football currently, dragged out of the mire by a benefactor. It’s like Viv Nicholson: Spend, spend, spend. ‘Your’ club is part of the destruction of World football. Like Mr Wenger says, when 3 or 4 clubs want a player, he’s £35m; when other clubs want the same player he’s £3-4m. Citeh, as Chelski did before them and how a couple of Russki clubs are doing, are paying massive fortunes for journeymen players and keeping them out of the game. They create a false market. The good players Citeh have raised, in the fashion of the greats: Bell, Summerbee, Young & Doyle (RIP both), players like Michael Johnson, Medum Onuha and Steven Ireland have been forced out to rot after being held back to reserve football and then tossed out. Even the thug Barton. Now it’s Milner, Johnson et al sacrificed on the altar of some Arab billionaire who ‘earned’ his dough by mugging the west.
You can smile and chortle all you like but Citeh have won a ‘trophy’ that even Bolton don’t play their first team in and destroyed the careers of several players to do so. I suspect you’re all proud about it too, really, without even thinking of the consequences.
I wouldn’t care where you lived mate, it’s not personal until you come on crowing about Arsenal being a laughing stock. We’ll see mate, we’ll see. But one thing is certain, there is credit in achieving something like Arsenal have done, not only in the last few ‘glory’ years but in the 125 years of history which made them a big club.
‘Your’ team has become rich like Viv Nicholson and others since have done – but you can’t buy class or history.
And we all know how good Mick the Bookie is at tipping…

Anyway someone has informed me (i have a short memory) that a couple of years ago on here that FBlues said he would eat a pint of live red maggots on tight lines if Arsenal started selling its best players to MCFC ?
maybe geeps could dig up the archives ? 😀 😀

TF_MICK THE BOOKIEHerbie………..FRO you silly old sod.By tipping losers many of my friends have backed countless winners by backing the other runners…lol.
Rest assured my ancient pal……..Arsenal will NOT finish in the top 6.For your eyes again here is my predicted top 6 for the premiership this season,WHICH IS THE SAME AS I POSTED 4 MONTHS AGO.Have your shirt on it mate.
1.Man City.
2.Man United.
3.Chelsea.
4.Everton.
5.Liverpool.
6.Tottenham.(if Harry R. stays)Relegation….QPR……..Certainty
Swansea
Norwich/Bolton.Fabregas………Will only play a handfall of games for Barca this season(injury predicted)
Nasri……………Will go to City and become their player of the year.
Modric………….Will leave Spurs….but could end up at a club which will suprise everyone.I will win Fisho Mania next year and appear on Tight lines with our Keith to give my 2013 predictions. Also at the ripe old age of 65 i will become a father again…..Well,it wont be for the want of trying….lol.
HAVE A NICE DAY NOW.    -

16/08/2011 at 9:49 am #147101
TF_FBluesNasri is a LONG way from a best player Dodge, he’s good but only appeared VERY good for 10 games at the start of last season. Has never stood out in an average French team. But then again, when you’ve got unlimited amounts of other people’s money to fritter away it doesn’t really matter. A bit of destabilising here, tapping up there, it’s got Chelski written all over it.
And you know what ALL bookies are like, full of duff info. It must be superstition.

TF_yiddoPerhaps citehs owners should dip into their deep pockets and buy a load of blow up dolls to put in all the empty seats that were at eastlands or whatever the place is called now.Unbelievable your 1st home game of the season and you cant even fill your stadium there were empty seats all round the ground what great fans citeh have 🙂 🙂

AnonymousWow, a few predicing Everton to make the top 4. Thats a vote for class and history instead of chucking silly money at almost every player who has 3 good games. Watch out for Ross Blakely!
Amazed at Arsenal for not putting a proper bid in for Jag (£18-£20 million). City got Everton,s second best defender for £23 million 2 years ago. Jags is a big part of what Arsenal need to sort thing out at the back. Stop messing about and get the deal done! Then, Arsenal will make the top 4 and maybe challenge for the league.

TF_yiddoEy up Dodge mate i was only stating a fact that the stadium always has empty seats whenever citeh are on tv. white hart lane is full every game of the season the only empty seats will be in the away end you would think with all the optimism at eastlands and with all the quality players they are paying over the odds for the ground would be full every game.
And i thought long and hard about taking up trainspotting while i was waiting for bites on the new junction 😀 😀 😀 -
16/08/2011 at 6:56 pm #147137
AnonymousNot sure Baines is for sale unless City offer £15 million + and one of their England internationals who cannot get a regular game for City. Once bitten twice shy after the Lescott deal, maybe! How much will City offer Everton for the 6 point?
Jags can be replaced at Everton because of the way we play. The cover Fellini/Rodwell/Neville give to the defence when under pressure. We probably already have a replacement in the squad in Johnny H if Jags does leave.
The problem at Everton is the lack of money to get a top quality striker who can put the ball in the back of the net against teams that defend in numbers. Solve that problem. Then, Everton can challange City, United, Chelsea and Arsenal. Maybe thats the real reason why Arsenal dont want to pay the asking price for Jags.
No idea what,s going on at Anfield, herbie. They have spent big but can they play as a team for 90 minutes? The jury,s out on them until they play a few more games. Im guessing even the Liverpool supporters are unsure what,s going to happen with the squad this season. Daglish has put together an interesting squad. They where great in the first half on Saturday and should have been out of sight. Second half they where out played and at Anfield too. They where lucky to get a draw against an average team.
I dont see Tottenham challenging the top 6 if Chelsea get there man or they are left with an unhappy star play maker.

TF_yiddoHarrys just waiting for crapello to leave so he can do the england job. I’m a little worried that we are not signing anyone because you just know that come 8pm on deadline day it will get announced that chelski have signed modric and spurs will be running around trying to get a replacement as usual. If spurs are trying to be a big club they have got to start acting like one by signing £20m+ players and paying them big bucks and stop trying to do it on the cheap. Don’t worry about the game going ahead dodge its on tv so it will cost too much to cancel it but after we have spanked you like we normally do at the lane you might wish it had been postponed 😀 😀 😀

TF_JohnHHave to say IMO Arsenal are doing exactly the right thing. They play the game wonderfully well and are one of the few teams most managers in the league would pay to see.
I have sat and watched some real rubbish over the years but not generally from Arsenal.
The money bags mindset started by Chelsea is doing nothing for the English game its just making some players very rich beyond their wildest dreams. I fear the bubble will burst at some point and prudence and sensible business logic will rule once more.
For me its not about winning things at any cost, so my advice to the moaners is enjoy the game and watch the so called wonder clubs fight to survive in future. -
19/08/2011 at 11:29 am #147282
TF_herbieit never ceases to amaze me how short sighted some people are in today,s world. arsenal have won nothing for a few years whilst in the meantime they’ve got a state of the art stadium nearly paid for and a youth program only matched by united,s. some teams are now collecting all the best players and paying wages that are stupid to say the least. they attract mercenaries who grab the riches and run ( tevez) or sit back and enjoy watching there club play whilst collecting loads of cash. these clubs are built on sand, they cannot sustain this growth beyond the next sunset , and yet some fickle supporters use these clubs as a yardstick to beat wegner with.
i spoke to ptb the other night about Q.P.R. and there new found riches,
Brian quite rightly pointed out they will be even richer than citeh, i pointed out that even with money to burn the best two managers on the planet cannot find anything to spend it on that’s value . talk about schneider coming to united ??why weve got kids as good so have the gooners. i say to all unhappy arsenal fans read what sir gary neville wrote and sit back and wait for the walls at these ( richer than yow) clubs to come tumbling down.we all of us over 50 remember buy for today clubs that are now rubbish shadows of there former self. remember LEEDS lol -
