We had a match on there on BH Monday. The weather wasn’t good with a strong cool wind and a few showers.

I was pegged on the canalised part (which was the original match lake) and it was crap.
Hardly any carp caught around where I was (half way down) and those who caught best did so on chopped worm and caster.

I had one carp on the far bank line which was near enough 5ft inches from the reeds and that was caught shallow late on.
Fed lines at 13m, 5m and margin and didn’t have a bite off any of them. I could only catch at 16.5m tight to the far bank.

The guy to my right had one small skimmer and a couple of pegs away to my left there were some blanks. The guy to my immediate left fished chopped worm and caster and had 19lb. I wish I’d taken some myself but was expecting it to be a full on carp match so didn’t bother, big mistake.

The match had one weight around the back of the canalised part but the rest all came from the main part of the lake (the old specimen lake) with catches taken mainly on method feeder although the peg nearest cafe did have an all pole catch but the wind was blowing into that peg.
