Used these feeders for the first time yesterday and wont be using them again.First 2 casts were ok but then the pellets or groundbait kept on falling out of the feeders and going everywhere.I was using the same mix that i would use in a method feeder so it cant be down to that.I even tried to squash the pellets into it but they just wouldnt stay.Anybody else had problems with these

                    fisherman phil,
patience my boy. remember that rome wasn’t built in a day.
did you try wetting yout pellets a little more to make them stickier and did you try adding a little groundbait to do the same?
mick and i often use them at dandy’s ford and they work well.you can make your own with a plastic bottle top, a bit of lead stuck to the bottom and a small length of plastic/nylon tube run through the sides of the bottle top.
if at first youy don’t succeed then try agin, but dont just give up first time out.
                    cheers and success,
                    cormorant.

I’ve seen these in the shops but have never used one, so I’m not gonna knock it but… what is the purpose for them, i guess colder water where you’re looking to attract just a few fish to your swim?? Anyone found them to be better than the method for baggin situations?

I never use Methods, Banjo or Banjo Feeders. I find the Drennan Groundbait feeders keep me on top of most of my competitions so why change:P 🙂

Ive had the exact them problem with the WHOLE lot falling out. It stays together in perfect form and falls out. There is nothing for it to grip to so the pellets are on a smooth plate. Seems silly to me they should have put some little ridges of some sort or grooves to help hold the pellets in. Played about with it and over a session not managed anything 100% successful. Will be sticking to the method feeder where its spot on every time. Bad design in my opinion.

    .These should have been called the “Bandit Banjo Feeders”,and indroduced to us Angling Muppets on April the 1st.
How the **** can Preston put these expensive little plastic dinner plates on the market after their successful method feeder God only knows.Someone on the firm should try and get on the TV show Dragons Den with this little beauty.
Unless they are taken off the shelves very quickly and worked on,so they actually work,Preston will loose valuable customers IMO of course.A pal of mine done £18 in cold blood buying a set of them, and after trying them for a session promptly sent them to a watery grave. How they can get an Angler of high repute to advertise the bloody things beggars belief.
They…Preston gave us a method feeder which put fish in the net and won us matches…….Can someone who works there please tell me what bright spark okayed this BBF to empty our pocket and subsequently keep our nets dry.
                            IMO…….HAVE A NICE DAY NOW.

While I haven’t used them myself, one of my mates won two matches on consecutive Sundays recently with the Banjo feeder. He won’t use anything else now in shallow water against islands or the far bank. He likes the fact that the container holds the pellets in shallow water especially and that they don’t disperse as much as they do with a Method (he’s tank-tested both).

Try making the pellets stickier with soya flour or Horlicks.

I must admit i haven’t tried them and i doubt very much i ever will. I totally respect the fin and love the way he has all his quirky bits, hes so inventive and that’s why hes so effective. Personally if i want to cast a bait tight to a feature, i use the conker, either with paste or micros bound around a hair rigged big pellet. deadly, especially with a 6 inch hooklength. you still get the effect of your hookbait sat in a pile of feed, but without any faffing or hastle.

got it of too a tee at the moment few micros in bottom put hookbait in cover with a bit of sticky gbait.press in with fingers to just above the rim of the banjo.fished today in 10 feet of water gale in my face had 20 carp and a big tench.cant get the mould to work though

It doesnt work with the mould. Pressing them in with your hand so its pretty much flush and it works. But the mould and the excess pellet seems to unbalance it and cause the pellet to pull out.

Bought a couple to try got the smallest and heaviest size not sure about them yet, but i can see a much smaller fairly heavy homemade version being spot on in winter.
If i cant get on with them as they are i will probably modify them for fishing the tea bag method in deeper water could be just the job for that ,a bag should sit nicely in the banjo and they should be fairly unobtrusive when lying on the bottom sorted.
Not sure about sending them to a watery grave a £1.99 a throw could string em up and do a george formby tribute act :p

or just leave the banjo strings on and wedge your teabag under the strings ding ding ding dind dang dang dang dang, im leaning on a lampost etc etc. :p

why use a teabag and a method type feeder? is it not defeating the object of having nothing feeder like around your hook bits?

I think your crediting fish with more brains than is sensible, i doubt a flat method feeder with the struts cut off or banjo laying on the bottom will be any more of a danger signal to a fish than say a flat inline carp lead, i am aware that fish somtimes spook off end tackle line, leadcore or whatever maybe even feeders.
But like i say i think some people are crediting fish with a little to much brain power, caution by assosiation might even be stretching things a little in my humble opinion.
All i know is i have caught a lot of fish using a tea bag strapped to a flat method feeder that has had the struts removed and two holes drilled to accept the elastic.
I like this method in deeper pegs becauce i belive the groundbait and or pellets fall off a method feeder before it gets anywhere near the bottom in all but the shallowest swim, unless some form of binder is used or the stuff is mixed like stiff paste.
The misconception that the method feeder once cast in sits on the bottom with the groundbait or pellets intact and the hookbait sitting neatly in the centre of the pile of bait waiting for mr carp to come along and suck in the groundbait along with your hookbait is for me difficult to swallow LOL.

I won’t be using a small method feeder again in shallow water, also the mould works perfect if you follow the directions on the packet, I have used the larger ones in deep water, ok.Once you have got the pellets or gb mixed right, Iused a mixture of pellets and groundbait as well

scratch the shiny plastic surface with a nail point or something, just to take shine off and they will grip better.
Dried bits of bait, grit dirt, etc. does this after a period anyway- same applies to kinder pots.
