Doubled elastic

  What advantage does doubled elastic have over hollow or single solid elastic?
  
  What would you use for f1’s to 8oz to 1 1/2 lb and the odd carp to 5lb?

  id use double 4 or 5 for that,the preston original slip is silky smooth.
