TF_phantomripI’m looking for a lesson for my son aged 11, he has been pole fishing for about 2years now and to be honest does ok, he tends to feed and fish the margins and has had success with this method, I am looking for someone to show him how to feed different swims and fish them successfully and how to alternate things when bites are hard to come by. we live in the North West near Warrington and any help would be appreciated, i am willing to pay for your time but i dont have hundreds of pounds free, I am quite new to fishing myself and do ok but i am limited in what i can pass on to him, thanks in advance,Dave.

TF_StewartI’m suprised you have had no replies to this request. I cannot vouch for this person but a look on google comes up with this chap Telephone: 07967 476 946 e-mail: [email protected] – just search angling coach warrington and have a look at his website. If I was looking for tuition for my kids it would be by a qualified coach.

AnonymousContact Lymm Angling Club. They have a junor section and im sure they have coaching days as well as junor matches and other events for junors. http://lymmanglersclub.com/homepage.html
You could also contact Warrington Angling Association/Club. I think they run the coaching courses. So, im sure they can sort you out. Not sure if Warrington now have a junor section but they should be able to point you in the right direction. http://www.warrington-anglers.org.uk/
If you dont mind spending a few hundred pounds for a day with a top quality coach. Andy May is the man to contact. http://www.fishingcoaching.co.uk/
Hope this helps.

TF_phantomripthanks for the replies, to be honest i was hoping to find somebody local who would be happy to give up a few hours at thte likes of partridge to help him progress, like i said earlier i was happy to pay but without pleading poverty Andy May is a little out of our price range, i coach a local u12s football team, no financial gain what-so -ever, just do it for the kids, was hoping to find the same passion within our new found hobby………….

It is a sad indictment when no one offers to help especially when you put time and effort into helping other peoples children achieve their dreams with football. Unfortunately this is just typical of the days we live in but isn’t what I tend to think of when I reminisce about what I love about this sport.
I’m just getting back into fishing after a five year lay off but have fished at a reasonable level and can certainly give your lad a few pointers in the right direction. I would be more than willing to help and as my Wife’s family are from Maghull/Southport, I should be near your area within the next few weeks.
Give me a call and we’ll try and sort something out 07875 815974.
Alternatively, ask at the tackle shop for angling clubs near you and attend a meeting at club nights and find the one that suits you best: That is what I will be doing for next year before getting back into the open circuit, health permitting, the year after.

You’re more likely to find a load of leeches with a passion for new found wealth.
There are still some decent folk about and Mark will help your lad along just as well as any hired-help could.
@OOTF:
Nice one Mark.
Good to see you’re getting out and about again.

TF_badgerParticipantphantomrip . Get your young un involved in a junior section of a local angling club, membership is very reasonable. My local club (Wakefield AC as an example) has a very strong junior section and have and still are producing some top anglers.Everyone involved with these clubs will be CRB checked and may have coaching badges, there’s loads of other advantages ie. local waters, discounts from local tackle shops, the chance to make new mates. At this time of year folks time is at a premium so you might get a better responce in 6 months time.

Anonymousphantomrip, you will find that most quality match anglers will help you or your lad with most things if you ask them on the bank after a match. This is especially the case if you ask those who have done well in that match. However, your not going to find many quality match anglers who will give up there fishing/family/work time to travel to a venue with the intention of educating an 11 year old kid that they dont know.
There are pleny of anglers who are happy to coach kids within angling. They run junior sections of angling clubs. Very similar to you and coaching a kids football team!
I,ve given you 2 links to angling clubs that are very local to you that run top quality junior angling coaching for kids. Take the advice and get your lad joined up. He will enjoy it and really is the best way for him and you to learn.
The basics of how to feed different swims and fish them successfully and how to alternate things when bites are hard to come by are easy for me and a few others on this forum to explain. However, every angling situation is different and so. It takes thousands of hours on the bank to learn what your asking. Most anglers never get close to really understanding it. Its called WATER CRAFT that your after and its the difference between the very best anglers in the country and the rest. You cannot teach water craft in a few free coaching sessons.

TF_chirstophParticipantHI all,
I run Lymm AC Juniors, we have 12 events a year starting in April running through to October. We have three L2 coaches and hopefully by the start of April we will about 3 L1 coaches plus volunteers and other parents. Our coaching sessions cover everything from pole fishing to feeder and waggler fishing. We are also in the process of getting a match team together so far we have a couple of good anglers and lot of kids with promise.
Junior sections are a great thing to get your kids into, they take them to place they would not usually go. Fishing with other kids is very rewarding for a lot of kids because they are able to copy and teach their peers rather than adults.
check out our website: http://lymmjuniors.blogspot.com
Also Carl McCormack mentioned in the post is one of our coaches, strange that he never come back to you. If you are still interested then feel free to drop me a line and i will pass it along!
Cheers,
Chris Finneran
