Horns Dam Silverfish Winter League 2012
I am organising the forthcoming Horns Dam Silverfish Winter League, which starts early in 2012.
For your information, Horns Dam is a 28-plus peg, two-acre natural water seven miles north of Preston in Lancashire. It has a huge head of skimmers and roach with roach going to 1lb plus and skimmers up to 1lb 12oz and proper bream up to 4lb.
The dates for this open series are: Sun Jan 8, Sun Jan 22, Sun Feb 5, Sun Feb 19, Sun March 4 and Sun March 18.
Anglers wishing to fish will need to pay a £40 deposit up front by Monday Dec 12.
You can either make cheques payable to me or take the money into Ted carter’s Fishing Tackle Shop in Preston, where Phil Alton will collect it and keep it safe.
The £40 deposit covers the cost of peg fees for the entire series. Then on the day of each match, anglers will pay in £15, which will be used to provide payouts on each match day plus the remainder going into the overall series winners pot.
This is the breakdown: Matchdays: Winner £80, 2nd £50, plus four, six or seven- peg sections (depending on numbers up to a maximum of 28 anglers). Each section winner will pocket £30 and if overall matchday winner and runner-up will see the section money go by default to the section runner-up.
At the end of the series the overall winner will receive £300, the runner-up £200 and third overall £160. There will be Ted Carter tackle vouchers worth £25 each for fourth, fifth and sixth places, plus hopefully other great tackle prizes to be confirmed.
Applications will be treated on a first come, first served basis, but for more information contact organisers Alan Barnes on 07970 697449 or Barry Broad on 07789 205113 for more details.
