TF_RhinoI splashed out on some canadian baffin titan ones last year – they are about £120 but seem like the dogs. Much easier to walk in than such as skeetex.
See info below taken from Erics Angling site in Leeds:
Baffin Subzero Titan Boots
Price: £119.99
Baffin Boots were born in the rugged and unforgiving Canadian North. The Titan Boot is designed to withstand the most rugged weather conditions while providing your feet with ultimate comfort and warmth. Available in sizes 7 to 14.
• Performance Rubber boots provide maximum comfort, warmth and dryness.
• Reflective Foil Coating reflects cold away from feet and traps heat inside.
• Wool Blend Felt delivers absorbent, efficient insulation and comfort.
• Polypropylene layer wicks moisture away from the foot.
• Front shin protection.
• 1″ snow collar.
• Fully molded, waterproof construction.
• Aggressive long-wearing outsole. -

TF_D.W.If you don’t want to pay Baffin money (although they are fantastic footwear & saving to get a pair of Trapper or Edge boots myself!), then the next best thing I have found are the combination of Skeetex Barbel or Field Boots paired up with the Skeetex North Pole socks. Warm feet even in sub-zero conditions and comfortable as a pair of slippers. I know quite a few people that wear the Barbel Boots as their primary daytime footwear as they are breathable and light enough to walk around all day in.

TF_lumphave a look for those 2.5 tog socks you can get, seen em in debenhams, but they’re cheaper in sports direct type shops. makes a big difference to any boot.

Not these ones http://www.baffin.com/product-p/23550000.htm . There are two versions apparently, the PLN and the STP. STP is steel toe cap, PLN isn’t.

TF_Happy DanglerI bought a pair of these Canadian Arctic boots when I was in New York in Jan 1993 during the coldest winter they’d recorded for 105 years. They are one of the boots of choice for ice fisherman.
I have worn them for fishing every winter since and they are still going as strong as ever with just a minor bramble rip on the upper material. You don;t need any special inner socks and I only wear them when its sub-zero as too warm for milder temps!! Comfortable to walk in as they have a proper shaped sole/heel and don’t look like you’ve got them on the wrong feet. 🙂 With all winter footwear and rainwear its definitely a case of you get what you pay for.
