As has already been seen in many areas (especially sport), money and greed are not necessarily linked with professionalism. At the moment, it seems that professionalism and wearing the badge with pride has rearely (if ever) been further apart. Personally I don’t care about what goes on in private, but I do think that the kind of behaviour that has been documented from New Zealand should not have taken place in such a public arena. Not only has it damaged the sport, but brought disgrace on the team, the nation and the Royal family. When representing the nation, only the very best behaviour should be expected (demanded). It would have been slightly more tolerable if the game is still amateur, but now it is professional, it is inexcusable.
The enquiry will be interesting and clearly there is a need for change and the new top management must instill a sense of responsibility both on and off the field with each and every individual from a very early stage.
