A little bird just told me they are now running Β£75 rovers at Willingshurst, the place is going from bad to worse. Its forcing the regulars off the fishery.Where will it end,in a fishery for rich people?.It certainly wont encourage anglers back to its banks.

not sure how long the thread poster has used the site in question, but the us and them has allways existed here, one of the rich ones used to collect fiftys for fun. Cheap matches where shunned just about sums the greed factor up ???? but in there defence it is chrimbo and a time for GIVING, 75 SOBS A MATCH the worlds gone mad

I’m realy looking forward to the infighting thats definately gonna go on.I can honestly see it coming to blows.I am a regular at Willingshurst but wont be fishing unfortunately,Β£75 quid out of the OAP don’t leave much left,, especially when you factor in the bait and fuel.unfortunatly the old days will never return. The LUNATICS are taking over the asylum.

Just heard Dave Bacon won from peg 19 on top lake with 42ib odd 2nd 23ib Horseshoe peg 3 I think. Peg 12 Horseshoe 15ib one fish.. suprisingly Dave had the main lake to himself, certainly an area if I was fishing I would of headed to !! Peg 17 infact…. Considering he won off that peg not long ago, you knew where you were going hey Dave πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ Mr Radford fished peg 25 on old and never had a bite on anything he tried.. I think there was 3 or 4 fish caught on old Mr Garnish never had a bite on peg 22 top… Judging by that lovely full moon last night !! I wonder if any where fished well today.. Match on John’s lake won with 9ib… Well done Dave happy days πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Incidently surrey winter league today at gold hence no big names in attendance. now theres a coincidence?????? nothing like keeping it to the WILLY REGULARS well planned J/R, RUMOUR HAS IT THAT there might bee a few more rovers over the christmas period at a more reasonable price bracket πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Hi all,i have just spoken to the organiser of todays match and have now been told by John that the payout was discussed, by the people fishing it,some days ago, and it was decided, not to pay out Β£50 winner take all,but to spread the money around a bit more.I therfore apologise to anyone to whom i have given a faulse impresion. It was never my intension to querey, the amount(total payout) just the way it was payed.John has allways had my total trust;I cant say that about everyone.
However i dont appologise to the person (whoe ever it is) who tryed to stir it with John.To you i say stop LURKING and start posting. :p

it ended up paying 3 the bottlers!!!!!!!!

Β£75 is a bit strong but i reckon after 20 years of paying 20 squids a match there is room for a more advanced matchman who would like to see matchfishing advance..

stuck in the 80s the pegging fee is half the monies now and they seem to pay 15 out of 20 with sections and top 3 and default this and that!!! time for Β£50 matches for sure with under 20 entrants make it winner take all. proper money.

can,t afford it ? no probs run your own 11 peggers down the carp pool and pay 3 !!!!!!!!

Let matchfishing advance ,,move on,become more professional . i seem to remember that the southern top 20 used to be Β£50 in the 80s..

With the financial climate as it is that may be ok for some tedc,i think after a few weeks of inflated prices you would end up fishing against yourself. You only have to look at the state of modern match fishing to see its in rapid decline, fields are now depleated, people are now opting to join clubs with there own waters..We’r doomed, doomed i tell ye.

for what a lot are fishing for after peg fees ,section fees, default section payouts ! (what is that all about ? if you pays your section pool you should win it) and still only a twenty to enter
all these years later,,,,,,,,you might as well fish against yourself!!!

I do agree on your section comment Ted,most pools in our area are Β£25/Β£28 pounds, still hard to find for a working man with young family ect.Time will tell, the top twenty league allways was elitist.
Thars what match Fishing will ultimately become, mark my words.
As an aside i was talking to a talented yong angler after the recent Β£75 pound match, who recond, all be it tongue in cheek, that the match entry fee was near half his weekly wage..
And well done on your win Dave, lovely time of the year to score, you can afford a joint of Beef now.

The way i looked at this match was it cost me neary Β£100 to go to football with ticket train food etc to watch 90mins,this match at Β£75 gave me nealy 6hrs of my favorite sport and with a walk off with 14 anglers over 3 lakes and the rule of 1emty peg either side of your chosen peg at least, we all had a great chance of picking up the winnings,of 1stΒ£490 2ndΒ£290 and 3rdΒ£150.We could choose our favorite lake and area on that lake and have space, happy days.I drew number 9 and still had a lake to myself which i could not believe but hay ho im πŸ˜€ Β£415 better of.(You can keep your football). πŸ˜€
