The hatred between City and United reached an all time high today , the sooner Ferguson the old **** is gagged and banned the better the English game will be ! 😉

TF_mauler7The game has gone so soft its unbelievable, how can players give their all for their team when decisions are made like this, what about the Giggs tackle, spoilt the game completely , I support none of these teams but City would have murdered Utd but for the red card

Well said mauler7 😎
The saddest thing of all United fans are gloating tonight even though 4 Utd players including Rooney surrounded the ref after Kompany won the ball cleanly …… i have now lost any tiny thread of respect left for Rooney as a player and a person after all the indiscretions he has made both on and off the pitch . United are a shadow of the team and club they once were and worst of all now resort to “gutter” tactics to gain an advantage . United are in decline , that is for all to see ….. i sincerely hope Liverpool smash them at Anfield in the next round.
As for the Ref he was pathetic all match, the Refs in general have been shambolic in the premier league this season for most teams !
Sorry for going on but i have been drinking all day !

TF_Allan_MarsdenParticipantIIRC Utd were already in the ascendancy. The dismissal. In the past nothing would have happened but today yes, sending off. The rules / interpretation are indeed crazy. I was brougth up for example on the premise that anybody on the pitch is interfering with play re offside etc. Alas times have changed.
City will win the Premier League but Utd will keep them honest as I think will Spurs too. City will always be noisy neighbours successful or unsuccessful.
Big tie next round for Utd
Many fans were an absolute disgrace. What a wonderful society 🙁

AnonymousA two footed tackle is a red card offence. Studs where showing and he lunged in. If the United player had not bailed out of going for the ball. There would have been broken bones! Does not matter that he got the ball. It was a potential leg breaking tackle. If that tackle was on one of your teams players. You would be screeming for a red card!
The Giggs foul was not from behind. It was from the side. Should maybe have been a yellow card but you see fouls like that in every game and its 50/50 if a card is shown or not.
City where losing when Kompany was sent off. So, cannot see how United where going to get murdered. It was 3-0 at half-time. United took there feet off the gas in the second half and that allowed City back in to the game! Was still a good game to watch.
Im an Everton supporter so have no love for either team.

TF_Allan_MarsdenParticipantIt makes me smile when people say BUT he/I got the ball. Getting the ball is not the be all and end all if you make a bad tackle or hurt another player to get it. Football is soft now compared to the past but a two footed challenge has always been frowned upon past and present.
Very impressed by Mancini’s tactical know how re playing with 10 men.

But the problem is that EVERY 2 footed challenge simply is not a sending off – end of!
Nearly every tackle made has studs, blades, or moulds showing and thats a fact, weather they are dangerous is another question and if you have ever kicked a ball you would know that.
Currently the FA instruct referees to invoke a red card for two footed challenges as they are studs up. It does not matter if you win the ball, the current FA stance dictates that the ref issues a red.
This is wrong – as Vincent Kompany’s tackle today shows.
The FA should change this decision to INCLUDE the refs judgement at any given time and tackle, thats were the problem currently lies.
The current directive is the same if 2 feet are off the ground, or along the ground – theres a huge differance.
Kompany’s tackle was a fantastic challenge, but the ref had no choice.
Anyway, dont you think that Rooney got him sent off? have a look at the replay, there was 2 Man u players, one of which was Rooney showing 2 fingers to the ref, indicating a 2 footed challenge, plus another Man u player who i could not make out? I think they influenced the ref in a big way. -

TF_GavinTo the letter of the law it was a red, the question is if the law is right for it to be the case 100% of the time?
A bigger joke is this Respect thing, I thought only the captains were to approach the ref? Still, it’s something Man U have done for as long as I can remember.

TF_Allan_MarsdenParticipantPaddy whether you win the ball or not whether or not you hurt the player on that occasion the two footed tackle is banned because of the career ending injuries it can lead to. It is a no no to anybody who has played or plays the game. The potential consequences of a two footed tackle are truly sickening.

TF_JohnCThat was red card end of!
Off the floor and two footed, if it was against any other player than a United player you’d all be saying it was a sending off.
Theres players and managers from all premiership teams signalling and encourging referees to book/send players off not just United, Rooney shouts to the Referee pointing out it was two footed and theres uproar.
Mancini did it last week which you City fans seem to of forgotten.

TF_herbietwo feet off the ground studs showing all of them, lunging in on another player running at speed . the lad is lucky he didn’t send nani to hospital. dodger my friend if you want to play with the big boys you have to learn too lose with dignity. leave the rose coloured specs at home, and try not to post when pissed. you were beaten by a better team on the day, i cannot remember all this crap when evans was dismissed for a tackle that a 4 year old would,nt fell over for, in the league game. both players were dismissed for challenges that the governing body instruct referee,s to send players off for. however in the bigger picture i wonder how those racist koppites will receive mr Evera when he next visits anfield at the end of the month. the world will be watching even their U.S.A. fan club aka the K.K.K.. lolololol

ronny ronaldo dives in at maine road or the eehore stadium cant remember which, anyway ronny that well known tackler ronaldo dives in two footed and misses both ball and player by at least 3 feet. sent off. no argument. did we make a fuss??? did we weep all over the morning papers??? did we cry like baby,s on the telly or radio??. not at all we took it like the champions we are, on the chin. citeh could learn from that and stop bleating like girls. you can spend as much as you like on players but you have to learn dignity in defeat.

Nani ffs goes down like a girl if the opposition only look at him …….. he stayed on his feet and even chased back and carried on playing after Kompany won the ball. Uniteds tactics are a disgrace and your a club in decline and cant hack it 😉 Ferguson,s time is almost up and bringing back Scholes (who was shocking last season) shows how desperate your club has become !

TF_dirkdigglerLast week i watched the Wolves Chelsea game and saw a man who should have been sent off passing to another man who shouldnt have been on the pitch either to score the match winning goal.
It’s an absolute joke the ref yesterday sent Kompany off which was questionable at best and then got two penalty descision wrong both of them stonewalls one for United and one for City.
Its a real shame that people seem to always finish up talking about the decisions made instead of what a good game it was.
Tecnology should be rescueing this squalid game from the doldrums but it’s not because the old gits in charge of it refuse to impliment it. -
09/01/2012 at 11:28 pm #153631
Anonymousdirkdiggler, Lampard should have been sent off last week but he was not playing in the City V United game this week. Kompany made a very bad tackle and was sent off correctly for it.
-
09/01/2012 at 11:33 pm #153632
TF_Allan_MarsdenParticipantAre you ‘armchair’ footballers? A two footed challenge is reckless and endangers other players. Luckily, Nani does not meet the challenge in a full blooded manner. Some would say he went into the challenge upon him like a nancy boy. A very sensible player! His passive, evasive response potentially saved his season/career.
Anybody who plays or has played this game knows that two footed challenges are a no no and deserve dealing with harshly. What did others want. The Man U players to belt the living daylights out of Company? Engage in a full on brawl?
The referee made the decision. Unfortunately, every referee is an individual and that results in inconsistency. Personally, I think the authorities should be doing more post match to redress inconsistency.

TF_GaryFor the avoidance of doubt, does anyone SERIOUSLY think it deserved a red card or are they just on the wind-up?
Even the most vehement (albeit intelligent) Man U fans that I know acknowledge that it should not have been a sending off. Nani did not even appeal for a foul, let alone a red card! There was a very similar tackle in the second half by Nigel De Jong and the ref did not even give a free kick (which was the correct decision).
Foy’s was one of the most inept refereeing displays I have ever seen at that level.
-
10/01/2012 at 2:18 pm #153659
TF_GaryThe words “letter of the law” have been used a preposterous number of times on this thread to justify Foy’s decision. Can someone please enlighten me as to where in the “letter of the law” it states that a two footed tackle is a straight red without exception?
I thought that the test as to whether any tackle, two footed or otherwise, merited a straight red related to “excessive force”. If this is correct, it is a completely subjective decision by the referee, and in this case, one that he got wrong.
-
10/01/2012 at 4:01 pm #153665

TF_GaryI just saw that too, Steve (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/16492841.stm). Staggering. The test for the appeals panel is whether or not Foy made an “obvious error”. If the error was not obvious to those on the FA commission’s panel, they are not fit to continue on said panel.
Here is a brilliant summary of the incident:
“It was a diabolical sending off… the person to blame is the referee. I know it was a two-footed challenge but it wasn’t violent or malicious. It was a yellow card at the worst”
Former Manchester United manager Tommy Docherty on BBC Radio 5 Live -
10/01/2012 at 5:02 pm #153668

and liverpool have got about 9,000 tickets
Would that be the Carling Cup where Man Utd got beat by Div 1 side Crystal Palace in the quarter final at a half full Old Trafford ? 😉 😀 😀 😀
6 – 1 😀
yes that will be the one with 54,000 there @ £45 not £10 will still be more than city and yours is a semi against a big team
city got a billion pound team not even shown in a pub
best ticket prices but no one’s turning up
city are a massive club
edit
just found out city ticket office staff in They’re in Manchester College trying to knock out semi-final tickets for tomorrow…£10 a pop
they said Form an orderly queue, there’s enough for everyone.
manchester is blue 😀

My point exactly, barca’s tickets are also as cheap, they also have a massive fan base compared to city’s. Your lucky to get 20,000.
barcelona first round 56,480
second round 64.124
😉
So like you said, half full. What’s your point?

TF_bremesParticipantI for one as a neutral cant fault city’s support,i remember when they were in the 3rd division, late 90s & still averaged 30,000+,Leeds averaged around 25,000 likewise my club Forest again in the 3rd div, mind you we seem destined to go back & we wont average that this time  .City fans deserve their new found success, its always easy to support a winning side, alot of City fans will have witnessed the bad times,im personally chuffed for those fans who now seem on the verge of seeing some great times ahead.I remember that woman who used to ring that bloody bell, drove me mad at maine rd & at the city ground when City visited come to that,is she still going strong?.

TF_eddiecrosbyWell he lost his appeal today …. Long after the incident with the player loses his appeal of wolves, I do not see how Kompany was never down.

TF_herbiegary  you are missing the point as usual . referee,s have been telling players at every game that two feet off the ground in any tackle is a straight red. what was foy supposed to do cheat. it matters not who says it is or it is not a red . the referee calls the shots and no one can deny kompany had both feet with all studs showing when he made that tackle. without TV replays and a couple of hours to annualise the tackle the lad foy had to make a decision based on what he saw .hindsight is the pundits best weapon. citeh and there supporters should turn there bile on the stupid prick who made the tackle in the first place , and left his team with 10 men. lots of money and much like liverpool no class. now ive just heard there is a massive toy sale with loads of disused prams for sale at the eehore stadium saturday. :p trouble is there all painted blue 😉

So the fact i am lifelong Man City fan irritates you on a forum gives me great pleasure …… thank you for confirming that 😉 Now you just keep giving your hard earned season ticket money to the glazers like a moron wont you :p :p
PS JohnC some of my closest lifelong mates / workmates are lifelong Man United season ticket holders ……..
and my brother is very rich ……… he owns 6 seats in his very own bit of the Etihad Stadium 😎 😉 X
It doesn’t matter who i’m paying my money too as long as i get to see them play and ay them Glazers have made us the most valuable club in the world for the seventh consecutive year. We’ve also got the biggest annual turnover of any club ever and thats with the debt.
It’s worst squad we’ve had in 20 years and were still winning things. Lets give it a few years and see if your still winning, City are another Chelsea in the making………………..

Allan_Marsden, if you really think that and are not on the wind up, do you think it was an injustice that De Jong was not red carded for his (very similar) tackle in the second half?
Gary. Yes I do.
I played the game to a decent level, was offered YTS Terms etc (not good enough to make it though IMO BTW). My father had brief spells with breaking into the first team at Blackburn / Burnley). We were both dirty bastards on a football field, behaved disgracefully. I take no pride in that but I understand perfectly what is and what is not allowed re tackling. Football is in the blood.
A two footed challenge is a career killer, every pro knows it is a no no. The reason the challenge did not hurt Nani is because he looked after himself, cowardly some would say. Get a ‘hard man’ with possession and a two footed challenge does what it intends to do.
Kompany is no angel.
IMO the greatest problem is that for example Frank Lampard was not punished post match for his recent challenge and the referee marked down for failing to deal with it.

TF_Allan_MarsdenParticipantEvery decision in every match is subjective BTW. Hence why we get inconsistency. Ideally we reduce that inconsistency but it will never be eradicated. Post match the PL / FA should be picking up the worst decisions and rectifying them by citing players.
Fans? No different to other fans but strewth how embarassing are many fans. The behaviour of many city fans at the ground was pathetic.
FWIW, I think City will win the PL this season. I do not think they are as good as many would like to believe, likewise other PL clubs this season. Champions League shows that. Good luck to city BUT it will take 2 decades of sustained success before they become a truly great club. Other than brief periods city have no been a successful club. You cannot change your history overnight. Liverpool, Man U, Arsenal IMO remain at the summit of British football with City joining Chelsea in trying to create something long lasting and change their culture and reach that summit.

TF_Allan_MarsdenParticipantUnless Cleverley come through as a fully fledged centre midfielder, I think Utd need a world class central midfielder. Perhaps two.

TF_DodgeThe game is in crisis ……
We now have players too scared to tackle and the game has become non contact 😮 😮 😮
Glad MCFC now have time off until next monday . It will be interesting which teams have players sent off this weekend ………
My guess is NOT ONE player will be sent off making MCFC,s and Kompany,s injustice even more infuriating.
The game has become a joke ! 😡
