Winter has got to be white hydro with a puller kit in case…its a beautiful elastic and so soft on them soft winter mouths…i also like preston 13H as a back up anytime its soft and kind. -

TF_RhinoPreston slip orignal in 3/5/6/8 for winter and silvers.
Green drennan for F1’s
White / Grey / Black / Red hydro for Carp.
Had a bash with middy 6-8 doubled towards end of last summer – works well when fishing very long due to light weight.
Interestingly I have had issues with the hydro sticking recently – solved with a squirt of the old Vespe slippery eel – must be to do with the pole I’m using (Colmic) as Ive never had hydro stick with Maver/ Diawa poles.

TF_rik_jI’m trying the Sensas Latex in the next few months, do you use any lubrication for these, or maybe just plain water?

TF_lumplove middy green 3-4. An under rated elastic that never gets talked about is maver hollow 10-13, purple colour.

I use a Maver Pole Lubricant at home in the garage when i’m re-elasticating kits but it never comes with me to the bank. Water suffices or else I tighten up the elastic a little more on the day. Sensas Magic elastic works better through my Zircon top 2’s (8ft+) as opposed to the No 1 (4ft+) sections.

TF_badgerParticipantEvery thing Hydro for me, I’m a bit tight and I know hydo is expensive but it seems to last for ever. I’ve tried doubled elastics, latex and all the other makes of hollow but still keep coming back to hydro.

TF_paulDHas anybody else noticed how much variation there is in the thickness in the same sizes and makes of elastic? I change elastics a lot and quite often the new stuff is a different diameter than the old. I’ve had thick and thin versions of Hyrdro, Garbo hollow and even had some yello 6 Slip that was the same as an older batch of black 8 I had. If you ever change you elastic and the new stuff doesnt work as well as the old (happens to me all the time) I bet this is the reason.

TF_shanieboyUsed to be the hydro’s but moved over to the preston hollo’s about 3 years ago and never looked back. The 17h (yellow) has got a great amount of stretch but also the power to net fish
on the top 3 The 13h (green) is great for fishing shallow for carp….. -

TF_GavinPaulD, I’ve certainly noticed it in the past with hydro, indeed there was a fair bit of discussion about it a while ago with the “thick” or “thin” variants of the colour grades in regards to rules where there are elastic limits.
It’s actually why I stopped using hydro, as good (and long lasting) as it is. In 2005 I elasticated two tops with fresh black hydro to fish the ACA Masters for the TF club. I didn’t notice until on the bank that they were noticeably different, and with one top I couldn’t net fish on just the power-kit, while on the other I could!
I can’t say I’ve noticed it with the Preston Hollo I now use, but the last time I bought original slip it seemed to have changed. I guess it’s just down to what the factories send them but it is a pain.
