Just had a look at the Maver website and it seems there is the intention to pay 2nd and 3rd place, depending on ticket sales. I have not seen any other news about this. A nice move methinks.

        2nd-5,000
        3rd-3,000

yeah i entered a few last year and they have sent me an email stating that they are gonna pay a 2nd and 3rd place in the final which sounds mega to me.Mr maver certainly seems to listen to the anglers views and react to it in a very good way, well done phil briscoe…

Really? I entered a few last year when I was back in England and did not get an email  But hey ho. Yeah I think spreading the wealth will be a popular move.
Wonder if a biggest fish prize will be introduced in coming years?

that is def good news as 3000 is still a good consolation prize! as for a big fish prize that is something the finalist could have as a superpool. i was lucky enough to be invited to fish the match as a blocker last year and as i didnt pay to fish i spent my £20 with the bookie on grant. As the finalists do not pay to fish the final 16 x £20 would be a nice £360, give something to fish for if your out of it especially in the last hour when the lumps come down the edge, even nicer if the daily mirror boosted it up to a grand.

Yeah I agree. I think perhaps half the anglers or more, might feel out of it at some point(depending on the match) so a big fish prize could be something to go for. Also, something extra to report for the media and a thing non anglers usually ask, so could read about in the paper.
