Just about to get some for my summer fishing the venue I will be fishing the most is 7ft deep the fountain airiator runs constantly, consequently most pegs do tow so the patterns im looking for need a bit of umph 4×12 / 4 x 14 that sort of weight, any ideas im already considering Preston durafloats & Maver ones where the line cuts into the body. What else do you people suggest. Thanks Anthony

Of the shelf, the original Preston Tyson floats were very good and pretty much unbreakable. They have a new range out now under the same brand name, but I am not sure if they are as good as the originals, it might be worth finding out.

For handmade give Nick Gilbert a bell/pm, he will put you right.

I’m not sure about those Maver floats with a slot in them, personally I think air bubbles are liable to form in and get stuck in the slot and affect the floats shotting.

Thanks for replies, Gavin im wanting quite heavy rigs anyway 4 x 14 so airbubbles wont be too much of an issue especially when its getting slapped about, I need floats which are highly visible, and Nathan I find the best shallow fishing there is arms length so 2ft plus deep, cant seem to catch 8 ” deep I think that cos the waters contantly moving

kc carpa shelf they ony do 4×10 or 4×12 i think they do a carbon stem or metal stem the metal one is good when its towing.

I like a 4 x 12 diamond or rugby ball shaped float like an Ackoo Power Trap, or Malman Snake 4. Sure Nick does a similar float and the floats of his I have are very good.
