Just browsing Angler’s Mail match results for two weeks ago and came across this:

Newport, School Pool. Sun. 19. Matt Morgan (Blackwood) 42-0-0, F1s on long pole and pellets, peg 42 by lily pads; Rob Sims (Garry Evans Tackle) 35-12-0; Giles Cochrane (Cwmbran) 30-0-0; Chris Murphy (Bargoed) 29-10-0.

Good news if it is. A really decent bloke and quality angler.

Good news if true Mark, not only a nice bloke but one of the most original thinkers and best writers on fishing we have around today.

            You are right John.

What always impressed me with Giles’ articles (and posts on here) is that he does things his own way, bending styles and trends to suit his own strengths and I think that is something that most ‘advertorials’ don’t tend to convey as they appear more about pushing products than creating free thought.

In my humble opinion, of course.

              Top man, has been missed.
His musings made interesting and thought provoking reading.

Good example, who would think of tying a hook in a 2 inch loop and putting a couple of no8s on the knot?
It goes against everything we are taught but Giles made it work!!

He has never stopped, just cut back and fishes when he feels like it.

I see! There was a post way back in May where someone said that he had flogged all his gear to pursue other activities:

Whatever the real story (I must confess I thought he had called it day) this is brilliant news. A genuinely innovative and thinking outside the box angler.
