TF_baitchefParticipantI thought I might open up a thread here for maybe a bit of banter and whot not for those who are interested.
Anyway, I have a feeling France wont bother turning up again and will get beat by Italy then France will go on to win as per usual. I also have a feeling Scotland might do England and I’m really looking forward to Ireland v Wales, should be a good scrap. -

TF_One Out of the FrameI sincerely hope the Scots don’t beat us as Ian Meek from Hyper Car Leasing is from Glasgow!
I’m hoping to tie up some loose work bits and pieces of work early on Saturday so that I can watch the game pint in hand. I might even nip to Leamington and watch it with Ian.
I can’t believe the difference in the weather from last year though. I’ll try to get down to see my brother who lives in Gloucester as there is a great atmosphere in the pubs there for the games. Last year it was T-shirts by March! Today I had two hoodies on… 🙁

TF_C_S_HFrance Italy – Italy will again play their hearts out just to lose by 6 to 8 points. But they look better every year and we’ll definitely be shouting for them.
Scotland England – The mighty England will prevail.
An excellent afternoon in the pub followed by a birthday meal out. Super Saturday. 🙂 🙂
Ireland Wales – Don’t really care. But it will be by far the best match of the weekend and I’ll be fishing through the ice at Makins with a raging hangover. Sh***y Sunday. 🙁 🙁
No doubt the Tigers will be 10 men short over the next 6 weeks after losing half the team at the start of the season with the World cup. However it’ll take more than international duties to stop Leicester from a walkover against Newcastle when I’m next up Welford road.

TF_C_S_HCheers Mark.
Yes, Big Wigs Winter League on Lizard and Lagoon at Makins. Breaking through the ice with a banging head on a Sunday morning isn’t my idea of fun, but at least there’s a chance of framing with Silvers.

TF_blissParticipantAs a season ticket holder at Northampton I understand how much international duty can affect Premiership teams.
As a Scotland supporter I would like to see the IRB introduce first half only matches as we would be brilliant 😀
Italy are no longer the whipping boys they used to be, but I had a sneaky bet on France in the World Cup (gutted they lost) and think they will be hard to beat this year. Losing Patterson will really hurt Scotland and although I love them with a passion I wouldn’t be surprised to see us taking the Wooden Spoon.
Now where did I put my Italy, France, Ireland and Wales shirts to wear when then each play England… 😉

TF_Allan_MarsdenParticipantYou would be far better off watching proper rugby, SL begins this weekend.
Nice to see an ex pupil and a league product making his debut for the rah rahs 🙂

TF_baitchefParticipantI have to agree, how the hell did we win it? lol.
We defended ok though, in as much we didnt give away too many penalties, unlike days of old. Got a lucky break with the try otherwise it would have probably been a different story. -

TF_Allan_MarsdenParticipant:confused: Baitchef the quality of Rugby was dire. Glad we won though.

TF_baitchefParticipantI agree the quality wasnt always great, but its quite an achievment when you consider the lack of experience together. The teamwork was there.

TF_Allan_MarsdenParticipantI think Lancaster has done the right thing re bringing in younger players. Too many great in their day players who had had their time were hanging on and being rehashed. The sport is now too professional to play at the top level well into your 30’s etc IMO. Nice to see the League moves now being used in Union backline play too. I think there may be an argument for all juniors 14 and under playing League only. Whatever people think of the relative merits of either code, League is far better for developing core skillls as a junior.

TF_Mighty MaggotAnd how would we develop talented scrummagers or specialists at the ruck? League isn’t everything you know!

TF_One Out of the FrameParks retires from International Rugby with immediate effect: I wonder how many games he’s cost Scotland in the past?
The Ireland Wales game was one of the most exciting games I’ve ever watched but Wales were lucky not to lose a man. Poor refereeing costing Ireland the game they deserved in the end.
Italy on Saturday but with the Mrs working a late and a cider or two to consume I must get something user friendly to prepare ‘The Brood’ for their tea! lol
