I have just started to use side puller kits but have noticed a slight problem at times with various diameters of elastic and how smooth the elastic actually comes out. I think it is caused by the angle of the elastic and how it enters from the hole of the puller kit into the pole section i.e at an acute angle.

My question is how do you overcome this. Has anyone used a bung like a Maver easy flow cone with a wheel on it so the elastic comes from the puller hole at and angle of 90 degrees and so can flow smoothly?

I know i haven’t explained this very well but hopefully you get the gist. I would be interested in hearing how you have solved this issue or is it just me?

I have special ptfe grommets made for the job and these are 13″ from the female joint so the elastic is pulled at an angle close to 180 degrees. I have seen some people use 2 internal bushes glued together and only 6″ from the female end, i would imagine the elastic is being pulled at a very acute angle causing friction and leading to rapid wear.
Hope this has answered your question

no need to use 2 bushes and mess about with glue! just pick the size bush you require and put it into the power kit from the inside so that the bush part is on the inside, its very easy to do! then trim the flat part of the bush that is sticking out of the kit to about 3-4mm and simply flang it over with a hot screw driver or similar, to keep the bush in place while you do this just shove something up the end like an old section that will wedge the bush. to get the bush in get an old piece of hollow elastic ( about 2ft) pass it through the drilled hole from the outside then thread the bush on and tie a big knot behind it roughley in the middle of the elastic. pull the elastic back through the hole the knot will help pull the bush through, hold the sticking out bit of bush and remove the elastic from the base of the kit. the whole process can be done in under 5 mins

done all mine like that Matt but Whitey reckons it easier done with a soldering iron. another option to save getting burned with the screwdriver.

has anyone tried the new maver easy flow bung? I understand there may be a weight issue but they look as though they will some way to cure the problem 🙂
