Ben Drake whereabouts

  Any of you Reading lads out there know the where abouts of Ben Drake. I guested one year for his team in the winter league and had a good league !! Fishing places like Arvington, Croxley, Slough arm ect and others which have slipped my mind.. He had a lovely lake which I fished on a few times. And he would sometimes run little matches on there, especially the bit he had stocked with loads of these fantails. I hatched a tactic to catch them, using liquidised bread with fine fishmeal and crushed hemp.. A really great bloke and not too bad a angler either 😀 😀

  No mate ! He lives in Berkshire and the lake was his garden.. We were all very jealous of him that was for sure. Lovely big house and a lovely looking lake too boot. I hope he’s still around and find him well. We all just lose touch of people so many anglers who we’ve made acquaintences over the years we just dont hear from anymore.. 🙁 🙁

  I go and see Ben every week to get my bait he’s still in the same place sold the house to developers a few years back but kept the lakes.Doesn’t fish too far from home these days though.Spoke to him earlier about this left him trying to work out who you were!

  RobH ! I am going back a few years 1993-1994 !! Just mention Del or Delboy or even my traveling partner at the time Dave Gould.. I used to fish for Raven Angling Club in the Berkshire winter league untill we pulled out of it. And one day Ben invited us to give his lake ago ! So we did and ended up fishing it quite a few times. Bait supplied ! Just turn up and fish. I recall the reeds in the right hand corner was always the popular area. And after a few trips he asked me if I wanted to fish for his team in the Berkshire W/L venues fished were Arvington, Croxley & Dickensons, Froxfield and the Slough arm that’s all I can remember.. I’m sure he does remember me other names from my team at the time might ring bells to. Mac Mcendo, Joe Fashola, Phil Stanier,Steve Mguire Syd Wilson to name a few.. Give him all my best RobH 🙂 🙂
