Gazer,
Hi mate, i have fished the place a fair bit when the weather is warm, never really when its this cold tho. Your fishing for mainly carp in the 4oz to 1.5lb there are bigger fish but you cant really target them as there are so many smaller carp in there. Its similar to tunnel barn in that respect, your not fishing for F1’s though, commons and mirrors. Summer tactics are pole over to the islands 12 to 14mtrs ish using wet paste, can be one a chuck. pellet works well too potting in micro’s every put in, 4mm or 6 expander, would favour 4mm if harder. Had weights to 80lb in summer, mind you thats alot of fish there. Winter is a different proposition tho, a good mate of mine fished through the colder months a couple of years ago and says that the bread was as good as anything then, cant see that it has changed that much. Feeding liquidised and fishing 4 or 6mm punch over the top, again this was over to the island. Personally i would have a line at11oclock and 1 at 1oclock just off the island one with bread one with pellet and corn. i would also have a line straight out in front aprox 2.5 mtrs off the island down the shelf feeding and fishing the maggot. Depths over vary and the far shelf is a bit naff on most pegs so you will need to try and find a bit of flat with 2ft+ i reckon. down the middle is upto 6ft so is an option but you struggle for a bite on this line in the summer. The margins are deep too but again dont produce much in the warm weather. 4×10 4×12 over on 0.12 line should be ok on a light elastic, solid 4 or 5 or pink hydro. Lake wise they are much of a muchness the one on the right has slightly bigger fish i am told average 4oz or so bigger. one last point the method on the pole works well in the summer for those that fish it, it never beats the good paste men as its too slow but does produce. As its a clubby maybe an option if the temp goes up for a few fish. Hope this helps. Shane
