TF_ziggy169Hurry back Keith is all I can say!
I know the filming is edited for TV. But thought his attempt at float fishing was on a par with Spurs defending on Sunday!

TF_Waveney OneThere are very few people who can match Keith’s overall knowledge of our sport or his presentation skills. He has had years and years and even more years of very little but fishing and The Arsenal on his brain.
I haven’t watched Fridays show yet but it is people like Dean Macey who have a high profile with the general public like his that our sport needs. He is very well known, highly respected, relatively young and whatever rough edges, if any, he has at the moment would soon be smoothed out with time in front of the cameras. He would need to develop his knowledge of all aspects of the sport though if he were to get the gig full time in due course. No doubt there would be plenty of willing volunteers to help him learn some new skills.

TF_Serious SamAlways thought he would be the one to take over from Keith when the time comes, not that I think he’s particularly good but I simply can’t think of anyone else that would be better.
Dean Macey was definitely a bit rough around the edges on Friday but who wouldn’t be doing that for the first time, I’d have been cacking myself !
One thing he definitely has is huge amount of enthusiasm (sometimes it seems too much 😮 ) which has to be a plus.
Personally I’d love to see Tommy Pickering take over from Keith but I don’t think he’s an all rounder like Keith / Dean are and Dean is a well known face so I’m sure he’ll get the nod.
Don’t always agree with him but with his all round knowledge and experience Keith is going to be a very difficult to follow for whoever gets the nod when the time comes.

TF_Waveney OneTommy would be very good on the match side of things and has had the experience of Fish’o, both as presenter and participant. His age means that there is very little on the match scene that he doesn’t know about and he is a coarse fishing coach who I believe loves teaching young kids. He manages and fished for the England feeder team as well. However with all his other commitments I don’t know how much time he has or whether he loves talking as much as some do. He is unknown outside angling circles though.
Nigel Botherway is a pleasant chap and has lots of enthusiasm but is it just me or is there a lot of stuff that seems to miss his radar? Also, to me his voice does not exude the enthusiasm that he obviously has. Alan Yates covers more angling disciplines Tommy and has often appeared on the show. He would have no appeal outside angling circles either though. That didn’t stop Stan Piecha and his coverage of F1 for the sun though did it?
In my opinion Keith A has enough knowledge to get the most out of even his most nervous of guests. He has a story for every situation and an extratraordinary memory for things piscatorial at least. He would be very difficult to replace. It wouldn’t surprise me if he didn’t carry on until he wants to stop and then SKY stop the show.

TF_Kagger TNBAnyone else remember Gary Lineker when he first turned to broadcasting?
He was a quivering wreck. Look at him now.
I enjoy tight lines and whilst Dean isn’t FB, he did a decent job and could only get better if he was to do it more.

TF_Waveney OneI don’t imagine anyone thought you had rayroy we were just moving the debate on. Sooner or later, hopefully a lot later, Keith will need to be replaced.

TF_p2hl_p2hlDean did a truly great job.
2 points though
1 S P E A K S L O W E R
2 go over the finer points of rigs and the like at a slightly slower pace, not for my benefit, i can just rewatch it on podcast, but there might be a few viewers who didnt get the full story…but hey, If I was Dean i would rightly be well chuffed with the show…
We anglers have to appreciate those guys who manage to present our sport in a good light, we need them…

TF_carpmagicParticipantChris, my hands always shake im afraid, just one of them things.
As for Dean i dont think people realise just how difficult it is to present a show such as tightlines, having sat next to him i think he did a great job.

TF_Waveney OneWell said Steve. I finally managed to watch the episode tonight. I thought Dean presented a good show and whilst I noticed your hands shaking slightly, I have seen it before on there and at the Go Fishing show when it was at Birmingham and you sat next to Keith I think demonstrating before method. Neither time did it detract from my enjoyment.
If I were ever good enough and have done enough to get onto the show, I am sure I would be like a jelly plus perspiring so much I would look like a lawn sprinker 😀

TF_wightanglerPerhaps, given his professed love of angling that Paul ‘Gazza’ Gasgcoine, replete with his pal, Jimmy’ Five bellies’ should be invited as a future prospective guest ‘celebrity’ presenter slot…?
