AnonymousDrawing is a numbers game. If you fish a venue with only one flier and 30 anglers fish the venue every week. You have a 33/1 chance of drawing the flier. Fish the same venue with the same number of anglers every week and you will draw the flier once in 33 matches. Fish 330 times and you will draw the flier 33 times on average. Over a very large number of matches. We all get as many good draws as each other and the same with very bad draws. Thats a fact!
A better option is to fish fairer venues where lots of pegs have the potential to win. Fish better and not worrying about what others and yourself believe to be fliers or bad pegs. Fish every peg to its potential instead of worrying about if your on a flier or a bad peg. The results then take care of themselves!

TF_Gary KMy maths isn’t very good but wouldn’t the odds of drawing the flier be 30/1?
Also if you fished 330 times you would only draw the flier 10 times-not 33!

Anonymousi wished that statistics came true but i honestly havent had a decent known peg for donkeys so my averages are way way below statistic draws…just shows that even if you flpped a coin 10 times it wont always end up with 5 heads and 5 tails…statistics is a guessing game imo 😀

TF_One Out of the FrameIt would only be 33/1 for the first person drawing: If you draw in the middle then there is a 2/1 chance that the peg is still in the bag and a 16/1 chance to draw it.
To be honest I’m not a drawbag person so I prefer to have the last peg. I suppose that came from the old days when pegs would mysteriously be found not to have been put in at the beginning of the draw or trust to fate rather than my drawability!

TF_shanieboysorry to say it but i think true blue is wrong, your not going to get a fair mix of pegs imao its down to chance , i know what he is saying about averages but it isnt an exact science by any means. you could draw a flier 5x on the trot, yes the probability is slim but it could happen. some anglers do seem to have a golden drawbag hand tho, im not known as golden balls for my footballing skills let me tell you  My advice is to get into the bag early, you cant draw the fliers if they have already gone is my philosophy.
Have you noticed tho, how its always a flier when you win off it but when someone else does naff on it then the fish wernt there or the conditions wernt right etc etc lol :p
I reckon 80% of the cash is won by 20% of the anglers week in week out so drawing a flier is one thing but winning off it is another. Happy drawing 😀 -

TF_matt hainesi think the main thing is not to get beaten by the draw! I see so many anglers go to there peg with there head down. ive fished many matches where some bad areas have produced unecpectidly cos of change in conditions. you will only know a bad peg at the end of the match. and on the flip side ive drew plenty of fliers on the wrong day or the wrong time of year. best advice is try and pick venues that are pretty fair and fish every match with an open mind! then moan and make ur excuses after the match i find that best.

AnonymousNo idea why i thought it was 33/1.lol but you get my point anyway! Its 30/1 in a 30 peg match. 100/1 in a 100 peg draw.
Its still 30/1 at any point during the draw as long as there where only 30 pegs in the draw at the start and no extra pegs are added once the draw starts. Once a peg is drawn. It does become 29/1 for the next angler to draw any certain peg but was still 30/1 for everybody before the draw started. Just as much chance of getting a bad draw for the first angler in the draw as drawing a good peg.
You have as much chance of drawing peg 1, 5, 19 or 30 or any peg number as drawing any other peg because all the pegs where in the draw at the start.
Oh, and i had a bad draw yesterday in my pairs league. I was last in my 9 peg section. 1carp after 5 minutes and that was it. Watched 2 anglers bag up all day at the other end of the lake. 2 anglers blanks to my left but those anglers where in a different section to myself. Luck of the draw but thats all part of match fishing.

TF_bully100ParticipantIve been running a football pontoon at work for 20 years with 130 people in it and in 20 yaers some people have never won a bean and some people have won it over and over, i draw the teams for all 130 people, some people are just luckier than others nothing to do with maths lol

TF_GavinPractice more and try harder – it’s the absolute proven way to get luckier 😀
Fish to your strengths, don’t give up and you’ll find your skill at the drawbag improves, according to other people anyway!

TF_SliderI like to draw first or very early when I know that the best pegs are still in the bag !
That said a mate of mine always takes the last peg and he sits on more than his fair share of flyers !

Exactly what I was thinking some people are lucky at drawing.

tbf I think that it is all down to confidence and the more of that you have the better you will perform anyway.
Mental health nurses (I used to be a nurse – well, still am technically!) have a phrase called “reframing” whereby you would try to view a problem from a different perspective and therefore a difficult situation could actually be an opportunity!
Draw first = All the flyers are still in there.
Draw in the middle = Best statistical chance of drawing the peg you want!
Draw last = It was meant to be and you don’t beat yourself up for not getting in the draw queue earlier!

TF_Johnny MacI’ve tried everything at the draw, always drawing 3rd, standing on one leg, holding left testicle etc. It’s soul destroying when you’ve been working all week looking forward to it, then pull out a duffer 😡
Now I just tell myself that wherever I draw has fish in it and I’ve got to catch as many as possible….there’s always next week
