having read about the demise of team fishing one poster touched on a problem we recently came across in our small club [10 members].Due to death and people drifting away the future of the club was in doubt for a year and a half we advertised in local press and local shops with little or no reaction then out of the blue we got 6 new members club saved great but what people said was that they had tried clubs but clicques were such that they felt unwelome especialy the older anglers so are we to blame for the demise in team club and angling in general

clubs around here are thriving mate.a lot of team anglers(good ones at that)have joined local clubs.some find it less expensive, some find it easier to win something and others find they have to give less commitment.having asked anglers who i have team fished with, they were the overwhelming replies. 🙁 🙁 🙁

in a word yes, although it seems to be with smaller clubs.

Agree with Loda, club matches are doing ok. No individual gets picked on at our matches, abuse is equally distributed by age, race, gender, ability and (alledged) sexual orientation…… I’d be more worried if I wasn’t being insulted.

Match fishing is a p**s takey sport (see this board). I know there are a few cliquey, “tell you nothing” clubs (and yes, I do mean G*******g), but mostly if you ask the right people you’ll get told what is what. All the good anglers in my club (and me) will tell you straight about what you have drawn, attempt to wee in your G/B whilst you’re not looking and then insult you mercilessly if you c**k it up, all you have to do is be straight if we ask you about waters you know and then you’ll find cliques turn into drinking mates.
