preston braidcast is by far the best.couldnget any last year so tried shimano power pro and it was no good, hung in the air even when the feeder was falling through the water after three days swapped it for drennan braid and that lasted a day before starting to fray somade sure ive got braidcast for this year

i use whiplash braid, but when spooling it i get some tungsten putty, fold it over the braid and reel in through the putty, the fibres of the braid take on very small amounts of the tungsten and sinks like a stone, perfect for when you have a shoal of bream feeding and you need everything pinned to the deck

I have used a few braids in the past including the Preston Braidcast 0.08mm which wasn’t bad although 0.10mm is the lowest diameter they sell now and the price has bumped up from £12 to £20. 4lb Fireline Crystal and the Smoke coloured one takes a bit of getting used to as the profile is nearly flat instead of round.

I’m now using Power Pro 150yd 6.5lb 0.06mm Moss Green, costs around £14. The best by far for chucking 40-50yds+ regulary.

If you can get any Fireline XDS in the .13mm – 7.8kg then this is the best by far. Unlike the other Firelines this one is round not flat
Had the same batch on my reels now for about 4 years
I recently bought 2x 300yd spools off eBay at £13 each which was a total bargain

Shimano Power Pro 0.1mm moss green – excellent. 500m £32 Bleak Hall Sports.
