        Hi guys,
Does anyone have any advice as to what pole rigs I will require for porth, i,e float sizes and what depths to make them up to? Is it worth setting up the pole on all pegs and sections put in on the festival as I know the waggler and feeder play an important roll,
        Any advice will be great,

I’d say a max of 2 gm, ideally less. If u need more than this probably best to stick to the feeder!
Venue has being clear so less pole fish but if they are on the pole its much faster than the tip or waggler.
Max depth is around 10-11′ at 13m; mostly less.

I usually find a 1 gram rig is ample for most of the pegs on Porth. Tie the rig on your top 4 and that should cover you nicely regardless of where you draw. From what i have been told, the resevoir is very clear at the moment and that usually means that you have to go out to 10 metres plus to stand a chance of getting the fish to settle on your pole line. Unfortunately the place is full of Pike and these can be a pain when the water is clear and they can be very disruptive to your pole swim. When fishing with a long pole you have to take note of the weather. The wind on porth can be a nightmare and in a previous match there i fished my pole too long and ended up not being able to hold the pole because the wind was so bad. When the reservoir is clear the waggler can be very productive, weather permitting. I usually fish 3 to 6 foot deep and catty casters and small balls of soft groundbait over the top. The best tip i can give you about this venue is to fish to your strengths with methods you a comfortable with. Don’t go fishing methods that you are not familiar with because you will become unstuck.

i dont know this venue that well, but nice to see other anglers giving some decent advise, When i fished a festival there long ago, all the so called faces wouldnt help at all, and I was highly suspicious of baits and bait limits being abused by many which has now changed
