Following a heathly unxpected bonus(no, i’m not a banker) ! i’m in the market for a new pole. This is the 1st new pole that i’ve brought with my own money since my maver E51 ! I need a pole that is as good for hemp fishing as landing the odd rouge carp in natural waters rather than cleaned out golf ponds 😀 I don’t fish that long 14mts max. I picked up the XR5 at 13mtrs and was impressed. Is the new G20 that much different or is it much the same pole with different spare kits ? I don’t fish that heavy elastic, grey/purple hydro but i need a robust pole that won’t go bang on mid double plus carp in shallow water and with very limit space to throw the pole back straight.
Are the interelastic kits any good ? are the short 4s worth while ? balance is more important than wieght as the wieghts are meaningless. Drennan used to put downforce on thier poles and that was in kilo’s not in grams if i remeber it right.

Hi, I bought the G20 and I’m well pleased with it but I did replace the bushes on the interelastic set ups (the top hole) as it frayed one of the elastics on one kit. Also just use the top hole like a standard pulla don’t bother pfaffing about putting bungs and using the bottom hole. The short 4 is great if you’re fishing up in the water as it stiffens the pole and also for edge fishing.
I can fish at 16m with it and it’s not as stiff as an Airity etc but still managable.
