Anglers have enjoyed terrific sport this week at Ravensthorpe with a rod average of 6.0. Big fish this week have been abundant. Gregg Hartley took the biggest fish of the week at 12lb on a pea. Several other anglers, including Pat Flynn, took fish over 9lb and there were even more over 6lb. This week has also seen some good hatches of pond olive. So if you enjoy fishing the olives then get here soon. The Martins, Swallows and Swifts indicate just how many insects are emerging from the water and they have been feeding in their hundreds. The fish have been taking full advantage of the massive buzzer hatches to feed heavily on most days.
Teams of black or olive buzzer on a floating or midge tip line is what you need to be fishing. Fished static or under the bung anglers have been taking up to 40 fish to the boat. Damsel nymphs are well worth adding to your cast on the point. Also don’t discount black and green pea if you want to tempt a big fish.

Coarse fishing
Taverham Mill
The relentless rain that we have had over the last month is probably the major factor behind Taverham fishing so well at the moment.
Ian Stockley had carp of 17lb, 14lb and 13lb and seven tench.
Billy Dobson had Commons of 13lb and 10lb.
David Broomhead took a 16½lb common
Simon Wrigglesworth banked a new personal best common carp of 33lb 8oz, a 21lb common and six tench to 7½lb the biggest. Chris Franks banked the same big common carp as Simon a few days later at the same weight of 33lb 8oz.
Lots of fish have been seen feeding all over the lake now too.
