This week saw a good attendance by anglers despite the unseasonal cool conditions.Excellent catches have been recorded this week from bank and boat especially during the warmer parts of the day and mainly on buzzer and damsel nymph patterns,hares ear and small montanas.
Leicester Fly Fishing Association attended the lake on Wednesday for their annual outing and they were not to be disappointed with the majority of members catching some excellent quality fish.Rainbows up to 5lb and browns up to 3lb being landed with the best fish of 5lb going to Mick Curtis who also achieved the best weight of 15lb for 6 fish.
Plenty of rainbows averaging 2-21/2lb have been caught by other boat and bank anglers this week with the pick of the bunch going to Mr G Ashman[jnr] of Peterborough at 5lb 12oz from the bank with local angler Lee Skevington landing 10 rainbows with a number touching 5lb in his catch and release tally from the bank also.Mr James Day was amongst a number of anglers who had double figure catches from the boat.
Expect this to continue in the coming weeks as the weather improves and regular weekly stocking maintained to provide more excellent quality fish to give anglers some fantastic sport.
Good hatches of lake olives continues and damsels are now starting to show as well as the occasional mayfly.
98 anglers caught 366 rainbows and 7 browns with 153 rainbows and 6 browns returned safely.

Bank-Mill Corner,Lodge Frontage,Sandbank,Willow Bay,Caravan Corner.
Best Patterns:Black&Olive Buzzers,GRHE,Damsel Nymph,Diawl Bach,PTN,Crunchers,Montanas,Cats Whisker.
Water levels remain high and clear and weed cutting has been in operation but growth remains minimal.
Prospects:Excellent for top of the water sport for the week ahead fishing with imitative patterns at 2-3 feet down.
