Shakespeare Mach 3 rod and Shimano 4000 reel. Super I use but whichever you can afford, should get both for less than £120 if you shop around.

Rods are a tricky thing to recommend because its very much a personal thing how the feel in the hand. Also you need to think about how often and where your going to use it. For example how far do you need to chuck?

When a rod feels right it definitely makes you fish better, with regards to accuracy etc.

There are some good little budget rods that will do the trick, but like i said you need to have a go with some on the bank.

Reels are a different matter, your talking mechanical components and so they need to be top quality, I go with daiwa.

have a look in fishing republic if you have one near to you.
i had a look at the browning black magic 11ft . pellet waggler rod.
it was on offer for about 60 quid and comes with a matching reel free of charge. walked out of the shop with on in my hand and a smile on my face. no regrets. may not be the best on the market but i like it.

ps only bit of browning tackle i own and first thing i have bought from F.R. 😀

you can still get garbolino mayhem 11ft pellet combo rods for £50-60 great rod and can also be used as a tip rod but i only like it for the waggler reelwise you might get a daiwa whisker for around the same money

                    cheers mike strutter
